There are a total of 141 commercial and manufacturing establishments in the municipality. These establishments carry on the trade and industry activities and the municipalities.

The following table shows the breakdown of these establishment by classification and by barangay.

Establishing offering retail trade services constitute about 78% of the total number. These consist primarily of sari-sari store, which total to 100 units. These are distributed in the three barangays with San Antonio having the most number of sari-sari stores. Considering the number of households being served by sari-sari store the ratiois one sai-sari store per thirty two households. In Longos, the ratio is 1:29; San Juan, 1:38 and San Antonio,1:30. Other establishments offering retail trade services includes the fruit stands, the wholesaler, drugstores, palakaya and regaton, fishing materials outlet.

Service establishments constitute 9.2&. These consist of restaurants, carinderias, boarding house and recreation establishments. San Juan has the most number of these kinds.

The rural bank of Magdelena at Longos is the only listed bank in the municipality. This is a about 7% of the total number.

The establishments considered industrial can generally be considered manufacturing activities. These includes the bakeries, handicraft-making firms, paper machete shops, the Laguna apparel and Eurotech Ham System. Most of them are in Longos.

It can be noted that there are more establishments in San Antonio due to most number of sari-sari store, this is followed by Longos with San Juan has the least number. However, establishments in San Juan are varied offer services other than the daily households requirements.

Such commercial and industrial activities can be considered minimal. The establishments cater mainly to daily rout nary requirements of the households. Industrial activities can be classified as cottage industries, which are resource-oriented. These are export-oriented but of minimal value.

There is no Central Business District or public marketing the municipality. Likewise, there is no designated or concentration area of industrial activities.

Thus, there is a need to upgrade and enhance the commercial and industrial activities in the municipality. This includes cottage and tourism industry.

A central business district has to be designated Industrial Area shall also be identified. Tourism areas will be zoned. Cottage industries promoted.

Opening of the municipality to inventors and investments that will spark up commercial activities will encourage putting up of commercial establishments that will cater to this. Modernization of agriculture through inter-cropping of high value crops will induce agriculture based commercial activity in the municipality. Development of the potential tourism areas in the municipality will also enhance an eco-tourism commercial activity. Improving quality and innovative designs of woodcraft and handicrafts being made in the municipality, will improve export and also induced commercial activity in the municipality.

Allocation and zoning of specific areas for commercial and business establishment will give order to the land use and thereby promote the development of a Central Business District for the municipal. Industrial areas solely to light industries will also facilitate locating and establishment of industries in the municipality, subjects of commercial to environmental concern. Labor-interfere, light intensity industries are the preferred types.

Incentives to establishments of financial centers, bank and lending institutions will facilitate availability of credit capital for the projected growth in commerce and industry, tourism and cottage industries.
