VILLAGE

KABALI VILLAGE

Kabalı is one of the central villages of Sinop. It was founted in 1918. It is located on tje crossroad which connects Sinop to İstanbul and Samsun. Kabalı stream flowing through the village is an important source for agriculture. Today, the village has 138 houses and a population of 700 people.

As a historical monument, there is an inn remained from Anatolian seljuk in the village. The valley of kabalı sream is among the first settlements.

CLIMATE AND WEGETATION

Atypical Black Sea climate is seen since the village is not too high from the sea level. There are not great differances in temperature between summer and winter. This is due to Black Sea. In all seasons, wind, especially from northwest, North and east, influences the coastal regions. As it is rainy in all seasons due to Black Sea climate, the region is covered with forests.

Kabalı is rich with its forests and picnic areas. In addition to the forests, there are various trees planted by the villagers.

AGRICULTURE

Although it was rare 20 or 30 years ago, today nearly every house has its own tractor. Due to the increase in the number of tractors and equipment, there have been important developments in agriculture. The most common agricultural products in our village are wheat, corn, sugar beet, tomato, spinach, tobacco, onion, lettuce, cucumber, leek, cabbage, watermelon, melon, pepper, bean, etc.

Fruit agriculture cannot be said to have improved. Villagers grow fruit to meet their own needs. Great importance is given to hazelnut and walnut since they do not go bad for a long time.

STOCKBREEDING

Families feed cattle and sheep to meet their needs and as a source of income. Villagers prefer cattle more to sheep. (Approximately 7 cattle per house.)

As poultry, there are, mainly, chickens and roosters, and in small numbers, turkeys, ducks, geese.

OFFICIAL INSTITUTIONS

Although the official institutions seem to have lost their functions due to the decrease in population because of migration, they are stil in the service of Kabalı and neighbouring villages. The institutions in the village are :

Kabalı Primary School

Constobulary Station

Village Clinic

Agricultural Credit Cooperation

Mosques

Post Office
