The full name of Kaakbay is Kaakbay - Tri-People Youth Dialogue. It is an organization which evolved from the seminar on peace called "Kaakbay - A Tri-People's Youth Dialogue for Peace and Development" which was sponsored by the Philippine Youth Development Initiative or PYDI and the Youth Affairs and Development Office of the Office of the City Mayor or YADO.
