The faculty of the Nutrition Department, observing changes in the job market and meeting the needs of its students, altered the program curriculum originally established in 1982. Davis recalled that the faculty decided to remove one of the anatomy classes and replace it with a class in exercise physiology for students who plan to go into the sports nutrition area. "It is a more valuable class for students to have, "confided Davis.

Benedictine offers a nutrition major, as it indicates in its Mission and Goals' Statement, to "prepare future nutritionists, registered dietitians, and nutrition managers to address important food and nutrition issues that impact the quality of people's life." The objectives of the program amongst others include understanding the impact of proper nutrition on the wellness of one's body, along with the ability to choose good quality food in order to lower one's risk for disease.
