So the strip down began, firstly i gutted all the interior, bulkhead, boot. I took all the surface rust from these and painted some jenolite rust agent over all bare metal then with the exception of the bulkhead, this was painted when the car was resprayed, i painted the inside of the bonnet, floorpans, and boot floor on both sides.
Next came the respray, one of the plus points for buying the car. Me and dad had spoken of the idea of car painting, now we had our project!. We got to work and perfected every panal with endless sanding and more sanding. Six months later with a near as perfect car as two amatuers can get and equipped with a borrowed spray gun and compressor we set to work. Thanks to Chris at Coulthards for the free advice. We did everything he told us two do, im pleased to say the results were more than impressive. The work described in this one short paragraph alone took six months to complete!!!
Now it was time to reassemble and get an MOT. I took great care and had much fun cleaning and fixing parts. It was great to see that old wreck being turned back into a head turning car again. I cant describe everything i did as this would take forever and bore you silly.....oh yeah, she passed her MOT first time!
I drove the car daily for two years (98-00) and had heaps of fun. I looked after it as best i could but the tin worm finally caught up again. She is now laid up in the garage getting a new floorpan and rear wing. The car has been off the road since December 2000. Hopefully she will be ready for Le Mans 2003.
