One Man Clapping official live CD in shops now!

One Man Clapping, the seminal live album from Manchester’s James, which topped the indie chart, and is currently hard to get hold of, causing fans to shell out anything from £20 - £100 for the CD, including extra tracck "Yaho", is still to be found in some second hand record shops around the country. Some dealers have copies of the CD as well as the vinyl LP, but we have not seen any copies on cassette, although these may also be available. No concrete pricing structure seems to be in existence for this collectable piece.

Festivals in 2001: nothing definate:

Having  just played V2000 and a festival in Portugal , it is reasonable to think that James may play festivals in 2001. As James have history of playing at festivals in the last few years, notably Beijing, Reading and T in the Park.  It must be assumed that it is currently too early to fully rule out or indeed pencil in any appearances next summer at Glastonbury or Roskilde, although another appearance at Lollapalooza, the traveling festival in America, originally dreamt up by Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros seems very unlikely as Lollapalooza is no longer running.

New James single set to enter Top 40:

A spokesman for the Mercury Records, home to rock band James, today suggested that perhaps James’ non-appearance in the Top 40 singles chart for the week beginning September 3 could be attributed to James not having released a single recently.  He explained “Well, James have not released any new material recently, so we would not expect them to be in the Top 40 singles chart.  In the past, James Top 40 appearances have been linked to the release and promotion of new material.”  He could not comment on whether or not James would be in the Top 40 next week, but suggested that James might once again be in the charts upon the release of a new single sometime in the future, but even this was down to promotion and marketing.  Should James release a new single, it is likely this single will be available for purchase at all record stores in the UK and Ireland and over the internet.  The single should cost around £1.99, and may have multiple parts.  Fans are advised to pay by either cash, cheque or credit card.

James tour riot worries:

Following on recent events at the Roskilde Festival where several fans were crushed to death during a set by Seattle grunge act Pearl Jam, authorities around the globe are concerned for fans’ safety at large, general admission rock and roll shows.  While James fans have never been seriously injured during a James gig, it is likely that these fears extend to James’ future appearances, and it is possible that the band may take precautions to ensure that no fans riot or die at any of their future appearances.

Oxaal comes home for coffee and toast:

Today sources do not report whether or not Adrian Oxaal, guitarist for indie band James, is likely to have cooked himself breakfast over the course of the last week.  Were Mr. Oxaal to have done so he would perhaps have had coffee and toast, meaning we can not at this moment rule out the possibility that recently-aired James song “Coffee and Toast” had something to do with Mr. Oxaal’s eating habits.  Of course it is also likely that he might have had cereal, although if he had a particularly heavy night of drinking he might have gone for a full English consisting of eggs, toast, beans, sausages, and perhaps even black pudding.  Of course the liklihood that he may have gone out for breakfast also exists.  We are consulting our sources to determine which behavior is the most likely.  One Fan Clapping can assume that Mr. Oxaal eats breakfast most days as doctors report that it is the most important meal of the day and we doubt that the guitarst would in any way want to damage his health in light of James’ upcoming late-October tour.

Radio One DJ's turn on James

As anyone connected with the record industry may tell you, it is not good enough just having a great sounding record, you have to get airplay as well. "Pluggers", as they may be called, are employed purely to get the latest new single by your favourite band played on the radio.   BUT, if the DJ`s have any problems with the band, they could turn on that artist and it could lead to the track NOT GETTING PLAYLISTED. Arguably the most powerful DJ`s are on Radio 1 , possibly the most popular station in the UK.   And if a band were not playlisted by Radio 1 mogul Greg Dyke, it could spell disaster for such artists. Only a handful of acts have ever escaped from this abyss, notably Frankie goes to Hollywood with "Relax". Thankfully this does not seem to be a problem for "JAMES" who had Sit Down played by RADIO 1 DJ`s MARK RADCLIFFE and ex-Fall member Mark "Lard" Riley on Wednesday 30th August. They played the track as part of the Cheesily Cheerful Chart challenge, a throw back to the days of Nicky Campbell on Radio 1. It was played in association with the story of a MANCHESTER NIGHTCLUB with unisex toilets. Also played were a couple of pop hits including  "Right Beside You" and "Better Off Alone" by Sonique. We can`t think who did the other track, but it categorically was not  the Fall.
