Jumbamkasi's Rhodesian Ridgeback Story
Mkasi
In 1995 we were privileged to have Mkasi (Kasi for short) come into our lives. Kasi has been a member of our family and our constant companion ever since.
... to a powerful and beautiful adult Ridgeback
... to a good looking adolescent (6 mths) ...
She progressed from a goofy puppy hanging out of (stationary) car windows and chasing brooms ...
Not surprisingly, we decided to show Kasi and it was not long before she achieved her Canadian Championship (at age 14 months). Sadly, we lost our beautiful girl in 2008, at the age of 13 1/2 years.
Ch. Vikelas Hintza Mpenzi
Many times I have surfed the web and been drawn to ridgeback sites. Frequently mentioned is the addictive nature of the Rhodesian Ridgeback. After Kasi came into our lives, it wasnt long before we convinced ourselves that we should have a second ridgeback. Gail Morris and Kaz Paszko have built their kennel, Vikela, into one of the most reputable in North America. I would encourage ridgeback owners and prospective owners to visit their site to see their ridgebacks and view their many accomplishments:

We had been in contact with Gail and Kaz since before Kasi was born. A Vikela litter was born February 28, 1997. To cut a long story short, we drove to Ontario (38 hours each way) in June, 1997 to pick up Ch. Vikelas Hintza Mpenzi or Hintza for short. Hintza is the progeny of Ch. Vikelas  Zuri Sana Mwanzo (Zoe) and AmCh. Symetris Tall Dark Stranger (Clarke). The Symetri site may be viewed at:

Although Nandi and Hintza are from the same breeder, Vikela, their breed lines are different. Nandis sire and dam are AmCdnCh. Symetris Northern Exposure (Moose) and Ch. Vikelas Kamilisha (Millie) respectively. Nandi was born December 10, 1998. I flew to Montreal, one Friday night in February and flew back with our new baby on the Saturday afternoon.

Nandi and Hintza produced two beautiful litters - six Canadian Champions.
