Match Report Page

Welcome to our new Match Report Page.  We will give an in depth analysis of our latest match.  The fans have demanded these reports so that they can better follow their beloved Apes.

3/06/05   Apes 2-1 Addison Donkeys

Today saw the beginning of the 2005 Spring Season.  The apes welcomed a few new signings to the squad as well as some others who are back from a long spell on the sidelines.  It also saw an Apes team that drove forward at every opportunity but were clearly off the pace of the outdoor game.  with so many players suffering from post indoor league syndrome the game turned out to be one that was going to be won by who scrapped it better.  The apes were not to be denied as a timely goal Joe "Guiseppe" don't know last name gave the apes a deserved 1-ni lead after some neat play.  The apes then were lulled into a false sense of security and promptly gave up the equalizer early in the 2nd half.  It was a case of who would take advantage of the next break as Addison, clearly going for the win and subsequently not knowing what the hell they were doing, kept pushing numbers forward to let the vaunted ape counterattack go into motion.  And the apes were rewarded where after a free kick routine the ball was cushioned ever so gently by Brian Greenlee and then floated back into the box.  New boy Jordan don't know last name was on hand to flick into the box for Lazer to stab home.  The apes continued to look for a 3rd to finish the game off, but ended up settling for keeping the result as time ran down.

MOM:  Tie between brothers Joe and Jordan don't know last name for their overall contributions.  Its so lovely having young ones around to do the running.

10/31/04   Apes 6-4 Crush

Crush made to look like Pumpkins...

Today saw the Apes completely outclass their orange jersey loving arch-rivals.  The derby started off in typical fashion with challenges flying left and right and tempers rising.  Finny got the goal scoring started with neat little interplay between the laser and boy wonder which ended up a finely weighted through ball for the big man who slotted home with aplomb.  Laser next added to his tally with a finely chipped effort after being played through.  Laser was again on the board a few minutes later after a long ball from the boy wonder and promptly thrashed it home from 20 meters into the top corner past a stunned crush pumpkin goalkeeper.  The pumpkin team made it 3-1 after a goalmouth fracas.  The laser then added another for a 4-1 halftime lead.  Oops things weren't looking good for the pumpkins as Chaddy, Seve and BG were holding down the fort in the back in front of JT.

The 2nd half stared ominously with Pumpkin loving team getting on the board early.  I honestly don't remember how because i was uninspired by their effort.  it went in so i am thoroughly required to report it.  Alas, I digress.  The Big Fin then made it 5-2 moments later off a neatly worked free kick.  He neatly cushioned off his chest and poked it past the helpless keeper.  Crush then scored 2 in succession off of freak incidents, one a flick and another through a thicket of bodies.  That's all i remember honestly but they weren't good goals.  They were quite fortunate i must say.  The laser then decided to finish proceedings with a well taken 4th, taking a through ball and once again chipping over the helpless keeper for a 6-4 advantage.  Special kudos to the midfield work of JW, weaz, big man wack and my brother who shall remain nameless because of rookie status on the team.

MOM--Marc Rich.  You just don't give a Man of Match award to anyone else when someone scores 4 in a winning effort.

Unsung Hero Award--Wil Block.  Thanks for going to Boston for the wedding, I  just dont think the result would have been the same if you were here kicking everyone.

Angry Chad Award--Chad Droz.  Can you get any angrier at the other team?  He was literally frothing at the mouth for the opportunity to get stuck in.

Team:

Apes--JT, Chad, Severro, BG, Big Man Wack, JW, Boy Wonder, Cheese Weaz, Nameless Brother of Webmaster, Big Fin, Laser.

Crush--Bunch of Faceless Nameless Pumpkins...

Attendance: 10 people, 1 dog and 2 Mobile Referees.
