Brothers, Little Sisters, and Friends:
Slippery Rock Homecoming is fast approaching. It will be held on Saturday October 3, 2009. This year Theta Chi is making a return to "The Rock" for this event. Jack Shivetts, Susie McGiven, and Diane Erickson have been busy getting events and shirts ready for this event.
On Friday night the festivities being. A block of rooms has been reserved at The Pittsburgh Marriott North in Cranberry for both Friday and Saturday night. The last time I spoke to Jack he said most of the rooms had been taken, but a few are still available. Please use this website that follows to book your room: Pittsburgh North Marriott . Jack says as of today, around 50 people will be staying or attending activities at the hotel. Any questions please email Jack at: [email protected] .
On homecoming day at Chartered bus will be leaving the Marriott for Slippery Rock. It will be leaving at 10AM and returning back later that evening. Here's your chance just to kick back and enjoy the day at Slippery Rock without the worry of driving back. Little Sister Susie McGiven has set-up this nice feature. The bus if booked ( 47 people), will cost $17. There are seats still available. Please email Susie ASAP at mailto:[email protected] for more details or payment
Another Little Sister Diane Erickson has an order for Homecoming T-Shirts "Still Rockin' 2009". The cost should be around $20. Please place your order with Diane and shirt size at: [email protected] . The order needs place by September 13 for Homecoming delivery.
I will also be attending Homecoming and tailgating. SRU has opened tailgating back up. There are rules, but fair ones. Tailgating can begin three hours before the game, no tailgating during halftime, and Two hours of tailgating post game. Everyone must go to game. PA Alcohol Laws will be followed. Should add to some excitement to the game.
I was in Slippery Rock today. Brother Bill Carr of Luigi's Restaurant in Slippery Rock ask me to mention when Theta Chi's are up for homecoming, to stop by his establishment, and say "hi".
The main reason I was in Slippery Rock today was to buy another Alumni brick for Jonathan Wells. Jon passed away on August 9th of a heart attack. You can checkout Jonathan's obituary at: turrentinejacksonmorrow.com Jonathan was only 52. Rest in peace our brother.
We currently have five Alumni bricks on order at the Slippery Rock Alumni House. I went over how I want them place once they arrive with the Alumni Rep. They will be place along side the other bricks we currently have. They said all bricks will be ordered in December ( they must have a 50 brick min. when they send them out to be engraved) and should be in place by Spring 2010.
