Zeta Alpha Alumni Newsletter-July 2009

Brothers, Little Sisters, and Friends: The 17th Annual Zeta Alpha Alumni Golf outing has passed and has been placed in the record books for over a month. The 2009 outing ranks as one of the very best. The sky was blue, the Penguins had just won the cup, and many brothers caught up on old memories and created new ones. The Team of Boylan, Miller, Farrar, and Bariski won this years scramble with a score of -14. Tam-O-Shantor golf course was a great host for our event, and I have ready reserved 40 spots for Saturday, June 12, 2010. Hope everyone marks that down on their calender and attends next year.

There were many new faces that attended this years event. Some older brothers, and some younger brothers (and little sister). I had a great time meeting most of the new attendees. By my calculations, between both events (golfing & dinner), we had 56 brothers in attendance. It was also special to have our old house to hang out for evening. Everyone had fun time hanging out on the porch and taken a tour of the remodeled house. The party room was probably the biggest shock. It is now a finished off room with kitchen and TV area.

Dinner at brother Bill Carr's restaurant (Luigi's) was good. Bill supplied us with plenty of food and drink. The remembrance of our deceased brothers during the dinner was nice, and to have a brother come up and give a short story about each was compelling. We did collect $500.00 for additional bricks to be bought at the Slippery Rock Alumni house for Timothy Leary, David Yacubovich, Bill Hawke and Jon R. Curry during the day which I am in the process of ordering. Thank-you Bill for being a great host! and Pat "Bear" Scullen for being the emcee at dinner.

Emil "Zeke" Brenkus wrote this about Saturday at "The Rock". My favorite moment was the first one: Cruising down Normal Ave. and seeing the front porch jammed with many of my favorite people in the world, and the parking lot overflowing.

The parking lot was indeed overflowing, and everyone can checkout the 17th Annual event at the following website: Zeta Alpha Alumni photo Album . Thanks Don Ayers, Chuck Boylan, John Farrar, Ken Sherwin, and Vanessa DeCapite for pictures. If anyone has more photo's, please email them to me.

Speaking of Website. Around October 1st I will be switching our Zeta Alpha Alumni Website to another service. Geocities will no longer provide free web hosting after 10/26/09. I'm in the process of moving all the files to another free service, so stay tuned on this transformation.
Slippery Rock Homecoming will be on October 3rd. I heard that a few brothers attend it last year. Do we want to have a tailgate party that day? Some other brothers mentioned about having a winter event in the future. Does anyone own a house on the slopes, or knows someone who would like to rent one out for the weekend? This might be a great way to get rid of "cabin fever".
Brother Notes: Brother Glenn Weather is a homicide policemen in Rochester New York. He has recently been on an A&E show called "Crime 360". Checkout it out at the Crime 360 website, episode 14, Vantage Point. Good job Glenn.

Well another newsletter is finished, As I mentioned in past newsletters, any photos or stories please send them to me either by email or regular. I always looking for new material.
