Raezer's Slopes My first time skiing was at about the age of 8 in the "mighty" Poconos mountains of Pennsylvania...believe me back then the slopes seemed steep to me. Since that time I have been lucky enough to have skiied at many of the best ski locations in North America. Below I highlight some of my favorites and provide you with some links to some helpful skiing resources online. Enjoy...
Ski Mountains: * North Tahoe, CA (Alpine Meadows, Squaw) This is the most convenient location for me now living in San Francisco and it is a great place to ski if you like warmish weather and a laid back atmosphere. Alpine is great local mountain...check out Sherwood Lift on the back side. While the snow isn't the best if you manage to smooth your way into the Resort at Squaw Creek you won't notice the difference while you a chilling in the hot tubs. * Park City, UT (Park City, Alta) Park City was the first place I visited in the Rockies and still holds a place in my memory as one of the most enjoyable. Maybe it was the fact that we got a foot of snow the day we arrived :). A friend just got back and agreed it is the "lightest snow on earth". Host of the 2002 winter olympic games.
Whistler trip (Feb. 2002)
Other Web Links: * Resort Sports Network (RSN) - great website for all types of ski related info.
* Whistler, BC (Whistler) Quite a mountain...the runs are long...the gondolas are warm...the mountain is huge...the nightlife is good...things are relatively cheap with US Dollars. Enough said. * Aspen, CO (Aspen/Snowmass) If you want more to a base village then strip malls and new construction you can't miss with Aspen..which was originally a gold rush town that became a ski resort. The skiing is good but beware snowboarders you aren't allowed on the main mountain but can find refuge at Buttermilk.
