| Raezer's Recollections (A Brief Bio) Welcome!! Thanks for visiting my siteRaezers RetreatI thought it might serve as a good intro to the rest of my site if I provided you with a little background info on me so you can understand where I have been. I have tried to organize my life chronologically so you can skip those parts that dont interest youmoreover, you might want to try writing one of these alsoit provided me with some interesting perspective on my life, memories and feelings Childhood I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia on the main line under the caring love of my parents. I guess my life was rather sheltered back then as I was given the support and love to believe in a very idealistic world. My immediate family consists of my dad, a urologic surgeon, my mom, a loving mother, and my brother, a solid older brother. Life consisted of summer camp, school, going down the jersey shore, sports, friends, bothering my older brother, atari, building things (remote control cars to legos), snowball fights, summer swims and basically living through the seasons. High School I attended a rather preppy public high shool called Harriton just a few miles from my house. This rather small school (120 in a class) provided me with a solid education and a good group of friends. Most of my time was spent either in the classroom or on the sports fields (lacrosse, football). This active style of life kept me engaged and helped me prepare for college. I look back and wish I had spent a little more time appreciating what I was doing rather than just doing it but I guess that is something that comes with time. Strong memories from this period include pool parties with my friends, being part of a football team that went from defeated to undefeated, a summer sailing in the carribbean, a summer in Europe (especially the time with my brother in Greece), wawa hoagies, trips to the ardmore farmers markets, and getting in to College. Philadelphia had been great to me but I longed to stretch my legs a little in new surroundings. College Leaving for college isnt as bad when you are attending the same college as your bro and you can hang out with him for your first year (still bothering him :) ). I entered Harvard College in September of 1993 and it took me a little while to realize that no assignment on the board didnt mean you didnt have work to do. After making some great friends I settled into an active lifestyle that consisted of classes, my friends, public service, some lacrosse and generally living the college life. I was lucky enough to meet many life long friends over this period who actually live here in San Francisco now or with whom I still speak frequently. San Francisco After college I went to work in San Francisco for an investment bank named Montgomery Securities. I chose San Francisco because my gut told me it was the right decision and I havent been disappointed. After a year and a half working in Mergers & Acquisitions at Montgomery I decided it was time to test myself under less sheltered conditions. Similar to many of my peers I joined an internet company and started the long commute to the valley. I worked at Autoweb.com for 2 years where I did everything from financial planning to business development to business intelligence before the long commute and management turnover finally tired me out. I left with new found skills and a wonderful girlfriend (whom I met carpooling). Since then I have spent my time traveling, visiting my family, and engaging in various hobbies (including building this website). Vivid memories from San Francisco include climbing Mount Shasta with my buddy Strike, kayaking down the Eel river, hanging out in Wine country, a trip to Hawaii in July of 2000, and getting to know San Francisco and all the people I have met here. Soo.... The most important thing I have learned from my time here in San Francisco is that one grows by sharing oneself openly with others. So, this website is my attempt at doing that. Please take some time to wander my hallsperchance you might even find out something about yourself.enjoy |
