For Russophiles, several Russian folk art essays are listed below.  They required more than a year of research and writing (especially editing).  Several books helped point the way, including Alison Hilton’s Russian Folk Art, Alexander Pronin’s Russian Folk Arts, and Ovsyannikov’s Russian Folk Arts and Crafts.  The project simply began as a research interest and kept growing.
