this is a fishing village right by the compound we were living in...it was about 20 minutes away....behind it is LAKE VICTORIA - the source of the Nile River...
here are pictures of some houses/huts...one of my students lived in the one on the left.

this picture is one reason why i hope to go back to Uganda - IT IS BEAUTIFUL THERE. this is me enjoying sunrise the morning we left Uganda....isn't it absolutely beautiful?

did you watch bedazzled? member when he would cry every time he saw the sun set? well, i bet he would bawl his eyes out if he saw this sunset...
SWEET POTATO! for those of you who read The Poisonwood Bible, do you remember how the author described the rows of sweet potato that looked like mounds? well here's a picture of them, each sweet potato clump gets its own mini-mountain so that when it rains it doesn't get washed away. me and christina got to do some field work and we helped harvest and plant sweet potato.
