NO. these are not feet of a dead child. for some reason, people who see this picture think that the kid is dead! the kid is a live and well, i just wanted to get a close picture of his feet because i think it's amazing how this child walks around practically naked (he was only 1 years old) his older brother was taking care of him (um, his older brother was like 5)
we would see this kid almost every day at the water pump - i think he was about 6 years old. he would come and pump water by himself.
unlike america, kids in uganda actually WORK. like the picture shows above, by the time kids can walk and hold something remotely heavy, they're sent off to do some kind of chore for the family...therefore leaving no time at all to study or go to school...
this lil fella was just walkin around...he seemed happy though...probably because he didn't know he was naked!
sad to ruin this for you but this picture was posed!! haha...that's willy, my fourth grade student...we were going fishing and i saw the field and i told him to go in it cause it would make a nice picture - if you can see, he's holding a long bamboo stick - that's his fishing rod. they were going to catch fish for dinner.
