DUNORK
Home 1947
The Southern Railway run over a secondary main line in urban Surrey, originally built by the London and South Western Railway, the up lines running to Waterloo. Their station Dunork Junction with its 5 platforms also has a small goods yard and a couple of overflow sidings from a local marshalling yard. The emphasis is on steam, however the main lines are electrified and do see some use with 2-Bils working a local service. The GWR also built into Dunork. Their station, Dunork South, was originally at the end of a line, however this joined up with the SR and gained running rights over some of it. The GWR keep their loco shed but use it for light maintenance on their locos.

21C123 BLACKMORE VALE races through the station whilst N class 1854 awaits the road.
Seen from the footplate of 6752, 3202 and 5667 sit outside the works.
3202 makes its way up Dunork Bank with a coal train.
302, having been inherited by the Southern, sits scruffily at the end of a siding next to the pond and WWI war memorial.

The colourful times of privatisation are in full swing...but for how long? With Network Rail owning the ex-SR lines, South West Trains run the station and the trains coming to and from it. EWS regularly run to Dunork Junction, however this is just overflow workings, engineering trains or through trains. There are regular steam workings through the station, some interesting movements can be seen when a steam loco requires to use the turntable.
In the 1960s, Dr. Beechings axe swung and took out the GWR branch, leaving the line for nature to take over. Luckily, just over 25 years ago the 'Leafy Line' re-opened, run by the Mid-Surrey Railway. 'Kettles' are favoured on this line, Southern and Great Western dominate, however ocasionally a diesel will pull a service.
Heavily weathered 08890 sits between duties in one of the overflow sidings.
66068 and 08828 seen from what will be the site of platforms 4-5. This will be one of the last things to build for Dunork.
