This is my 30 gallon Planted tank.  I started this tank on March 23, 2003. The tank has a homemade CO� injecter (I will describe its construction in a later article) and the rest of its setup is pretty common stuff that any good aquarist should already have. As you can tell, I don't have the money to spend on my hobby that I would like to, but I think that my setup is doing really well, I would say its just as good as some tanks that I have seen that use $5,000.00 filters and CO� systems.     This is my wife Terry's first aquarium. It houses 2 male Bettas, the one on the left is named Fred, and the one to the right is Barney. This picture was taken on April 10, 2003.

** UPDATE**

    Just 2 days after this picture was taken, Barney got sick and died the next day. Terry was heartbroken at losing her first fish. We held a toilet-side funeral, and I said a few words as Barney swam his last few laps around the bowl. Terry is already picking names for Barney's successor, I think she has decided on Ricky (from "I Love Lucy")... I hope that we dont lose another one, She will run out of matching names pretty quick ;-)
