:: Black Mollies
mollie001.jpg (17173 bytes) Scientific Name
Common Name Black Mollie
Native Habitat
Reproduction Live Bearer
Tempreature Range 76 - 80 F
Care Easy
Notes:      Mollies are very good algae eaters. I added these when I first set up the tank, I had a few fast growing plants and CO injection in the tank. The mollies ate any algae that surfaced during the inital break in of the tank. I fed them about once every 3 or 4 days for the first few weeks so they would munch on all the algae. now that the tank is set up and going good, i feed them all twice a day. The mollies have a big appetite, and will readilly accept any type of food offered. The only problem I have with them is that they try to eat the shrimp pellets and other bottom feeder food for my corys

Notes:     My wife Terry got these mainly for their color. I was planning on getting a bunch of neons, but these are very pretty and add some color to the tank.  They are very playful and fun to watch, I am really glad that Terry got them. I like them a lot better than I thought I would.

:: Green Corys
No picture yet.... they are too darn fast Scientific Name
Common Name Green Cory
Native Habitat
Reproduction Egg Layers
Tempreature Range 76 - 80 F
Care Easy
Notes:      I have always heard that Corys are a necessity for any aquarium, so when I first started in the hobby, I always had 1 cory in the tank as a cleaner .... well after researching them just a little bit, I found out that they do best in groups of 2 or more. Another interesting thing is that if you have 2 different spiecies of cory (like 3 Green corys and 3 Albino corys) they wont shoal together with the other spiecies, but you will have 2 shoals... one with the green corys and the other with albinos.
     These have always been some of my favorite fish. they are always fun to watch, and are almost always searching the gravel for food. I feed mine a few shrimp pellets or "TetraMin Tropical Tablets" every night. They also like blood worms.

Notes:      I was not with my wife when she purchased these 2 fish... She got them because of the very bright neon lines going along the top and bottom of their bodies, she thought that they would look really cool in the tank with the neon and all ... well, she didn't know what they do to these poor fish... They inject that neon dye into the fish... and it wont last very long when you get them home, after about 1 month, 1 of them is completely clear, and the other just has a few splotches of neon left.... so basically I have 2 clear fish in the tank now ... Well, I'm not going to flush them, I actually read somewhere that when they grow up they get a really cool irridescent sheen to them (kinda like the rainbow you can see in an old pane of glass) So I figured that I would give them the benefit of the doubt and let them have a happy life in the tank.

Notes:      This is another one of Terry's critters. He is actually really cool. His name is Kremit. Unfortunately, he hides most of the day and only comes out at night, but he is fun to watch before bedtime. he eats on the bottom feeder food like the shrmp pellets and such, and i think he liked the blood worms i fed him the other night.
