old and rainy.  Didn't think many people would come, but not a bad house after all.  First three songs were about Phil, a boat salesman who gets maybe a "half a dozen" customers a day.  Half a dozen is six.  Then there was Aexis, who is not a superhero, despite her superhero name.  I think her parents meant to name her Alexis, but forgot a letter, then lied to cover it up.  Finally, there was Kathy, a college recruiter who gives out awesome gifts like....er....coffee mugs, windbreakers and stress balls as incentives.  In the movie, "One On One", didn't Robbie Benson get a great pad and hookers?  I don't get it.  Then there was Barry.  Barry is a corporate lawyer who wanted to be a veterinarian but as it turned out, was allergic to cats.  "Don't Go With Your Heart, Go With Your Wallet"......

For the musical, I spoke with Jim and Angela, a long-term couple who are both trumpet players.  They play a lot of weddings but aren't married themselves.  Unbeknownst to me, all trumpet players know each other.  I'm a singer, but I don't know Pavarotti, so go figure.
I also spoke with Guillermo, a Colombian jewelry designer who lives in Queens.  He's Colombian, not the jewelry.  He takes the N train home.  That's basically all the information I got.  Here's how the musical went down:

Jim and Angela weren't getting along because Angela thought she was a better player than Jim.  At a wedding he was playing in Canarsie,  Jim met Guillermo, who was cruising him.....or was he?  In a half-sung, half "trumpet" song, Jim declared his love for Angela, saying he'd marry if he could, but he doesn't want to marry a musician.
When Jim returned home, Angela announced that she was going to sell her trumpet - she couldn't take both of them playing anymore.  Jim quickly decided to sell his trumpet, and Angela, perhaps too speedily, agreed he should.  He remembered Guillermo praising his "horn", and decided to call him after playing a lovely song on his trumpet.  Guillermo was happy to invite Jim over and as it turns out, planned to melt down his trumpet to make lots of jewelry.  Meanwhile, Angela couldn't forgive herself and hopped the N train to stop the melting.  It was her first taste of the N to Queens, and she was appalled at its infrequency.  Much to Guillermo's chagrin, she stopped the melting and the two played a lovely duet.  Curtain.

As for the "Styles" portion of the evening, the German Lieder song, "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger" turned out to be a PSA for Hemophilia, and because someone suggested Britney Spears as a style, I now know I can do Gwen Stefani.  Cool.
