Wow.  They're serious.  Could this be the Maryland of last year?  No, because we never beat a team of Colorado's caliber.  Colorado's not bad.  Really.  I expect them to stay in the 10-15 range all year, which will validate CSU's accomplishment.  UCLA has a really solid team, but I think CSU is on a mission.  My question:  Is Bradlee Van Pelt even good?  I'm sold on "Diesel" Cecil Sapp (I'm not sure if that's his nickname, but it should be), but from what I saw of Van Pelt, he was just a really tough guy.  I'm not sure he has that coveted poise to lead this team all the way.  I look for CSU to lose this head of steam some time in the next few weeks, but still have a very solid year and fight for a bid in a bowl game.

Believe the hype!  Colorado State keeps on rollin' as they continue to become "this year's Fresno State."  The Rams have two games under their belt as the Bruins have yet to kickoff.  This could work in UCLA's favor, but...nah, it won't.  The Rams are road warriors.  Sonny Lubick's squad goes 3-0.

Notre Dame (23), (24) at Purdue (37), (38

Notre Dame impressed me last week.  They made our offense look pitiful.  G informs me that it was because they knew they had the run stopped, so the could focus on the pass.  He then tells me that our game is based on slants, so they used a 4-4 set.  You can't run slants against 4 LBs.  Anyway, I'd be really upset if Notre Dame got killed here, because that would mean that we're not very good  (on a whole different level) this year.  Anyway, Carlyle Holiday looked like a totally different person than at the beginning of last year.  Was it a fluke?

Wake up the echoes, baby, the Irish are back!  Well, maybe not yet, but the Kickoff Classic victory was impressive.  Look for them to keep the momentum rollin'.  They beat Purdue on the road last year, and the team is much improved.

Oklahoma (2), (3) at Alabama (30), (

Oklahoma scared me last week, but finished off strong.  What did you guys think of that running game?  Wow.  I'm not sure which back looked the best.  This guy, Works, really impressed me, and Quentin Griffin passed the 200 mark on less than 20 carries!  Sick.  I just wish we had a stud quarterback (I can officially start using the "we" for Oklahoma once I get my Oklahoma hat.  It's so damn hard to find one around here!  I've been trying various local malls for the past month!  It's not like it's a small school or anything.  I can find Texas, no problem).  White hasn't impressed me that much so far, but whatever.  I have a question for you guys:  have you ever heard of Trent Smith?  You will have by the end of this season.  Trust me.

Alabama wants to do what Auburn did back sometime in the 90's, and "win it on the field" despite being under heavy probation.  Not gonna happen.  The Sooners struggled against Tulsa, and Jason White needs to improve, but they should still roll over the Tide in Norman
.

Miami (1), (1) at Florida (6).
(6) Final Score: Miami, 41-16
GUEST SAGE ARUN: Miami, 33-21

Wow, what a game!  This is by far the biggest game of the year so far.  I didn't think Miami was even close to deserving that #1 ranking at the beginning of the season, but boy did they show me a thing or two last week against Florida A&M.  WillisMcGahee?  The Florida teams' recruiting is so unfair!  They always have someone just as good as their departed all-star, just waiting for their turn.  Anyway, Earnest Graham and Taylor Jacobs may have had the most inflated statistics I've seen in a good while last week.  Look for this game to go to the air quite a bit, as both QBs will finish around 300 passing yards (possibly 350).  My nod goes to Florida, and my Heisman pick, Rex Grossman.  Here's your test guys.  Who wants it more?

Now it's gettin' hot in herre.  National championship claims at stake early.  Miami lost many players to the NFL, and their running game is depleted, but they're still loaded.  Both teams have already won a warmup game, and this one looks too close to call.  It should be a classic, and I look for the Hurricanes to barely pull off the victory in the Swamp.
