John Charles Waite was born on July 4th,in
1952,Lancaster,Lancashire,England.
Waite is a singer,bassist and an
occasionaly harmonica player,who has found greater fame and fortune in the USA than
in his native land.Waite began playing in bands in the late 60´s and in 1976 formedThe
Babys.This band split in 1981 and John Waite embarked on a solo career,releasing his debut
album,Ignition in 1982.
His debut single ¨Change¨ was not a
hit and he had to wait until ¨Missing You¨ was r eleased from his second
album(1984 No Brakes)for a break-through.In the UK the record made a respectable
number 9 but in the US it went to the top.
After the release of 1985´s Mask of
Smiles and 1987´s Rover´s Return,Waite formed the supergroup Bad English with former
members of The Babys and Journey.After Bad English disbanded in 1991,Waite resumed his
solo career with 1995´sTemple Bar and 1997´s When You Were Mine.
John also acted on an 80´s T.V. show
called:¨Paper Dolls¨.
