The Babys were: John Waite( vocals/bass), Mike Corby
(guitar/keyboards), Walter Wally Stocker (guitar) and
former Spontaneous Combustion and Strider member Tony Brock , drums, were promoted as the
most promising newcomers of 1976.
The group filmed a 5-song video which
quickly landed them a deal with Chrysalis,making them the first pre-Mtv band to signed on
the basis of their visual appeal.
Obscured by the punk explosion, the
quartet looked to the USA for commercial succour over the ensuing years. Jonathan Cain
replaced Corby following the release of HEAD FIRST.
The Babys did achieve considerable
US success, including two Top 20 singles with "Isn't It Time" and "Every
Time I Think Of You".
After the band broke up,Waite
subsequently embarked on a high-profile solo career.
