Guide to Fäedór's Natural Landmarks
Including mountain ranges, rivers and other regions
Crags, the--Faedor's highest mountains and home to the largest Dwarven communities. The Crags are also home to goblinoids who often squabble with Dwarves beneath the mountains.
Fenn, the-- A large unforgiving bog through which the Orkonde river flows. It is home to goblinoids, particularly orcs, as well as other undesirable creatures. The Fenn was created when a rockslide partially damned the Orkonde river several centuries back and the valley destroying several villages and cities once part of the Great Kingdom.
Gnome Hills-- Also known as the "Haunted Hills" by people of the hinterlands. The name refers to the tricks gnomes have been playing on humans there for several centuries. Many would be adventurers have fled from these hills and vowed never to return.
Goblin Wood--Forest nestled between Xyxos, Firiel, Tandril, and the Hinterlands. Despite its name, there are relatively few goblins to be found in the wood anymore. It doesn't keep most people from being well armed while traveling through however.
Isil Loch "Moon Lake"-- A deep sea separating Gadania and Firiel. The sea is more or less a flooded fissure and is salty. There is a slow flow from west to east. A ford was created at Isilford by filling in narrow area of the lake.
Orkonde River--The longest river in Faedor flows from its source in the Sword Hills through the hinterlands, the Fenn.
Ostogon: "the stone citadel" rose up on the southern coast just over a century ago and the Mesmeratim marched from it spreading through the Sylvan forest like an unwanted plague. It is suspected that Mesmerallun himself dwells within.
Sword Hills--Located on Firiel's southeast border, they are rich in mineral deposits and are home to a group of dissedents led by Alexander (See NPCs)
Sylvas: This great Elven city fell to the Mesmeratim almost a century ago. It is said that
Mesmerallun himself destroyed the enchantments that protected the city. It
was a great gathering places of all elves protected by both sorcery and wizardry
and watched over by the Sylvan Tigers. Now it is in ruins behind the dark
mist of the Mesmeratim.
Sylvas was a great city even before the Mesmeratim left Fäedór
over five millennia ago. When they returned the Mesmeratim were not welcomed
into the city as their their spirit had become corrupted by Mesmerallun.
At it's peak, the city's demographic was 50% Sylvan, 35% Syndarin, 10% Gnome, 5%
Human.
Tol Taurea: Not really part
of Fäedór, it does play a significant role for the Grey Elves of the
continent. The "forested isle" is home to the greatest
population of grey elves, as many have been forced from Fäedór, by the growth
of human realms and the coming of the Mesmeratim. Here the Syndarin
continue to study wizardry in their beautiful cities as the rest of the world
slowly passes through time.
There has been discussion of allowing Sylvan Elves to join in
the retreat to Tol Taurea, but it faces resistance from both Sylvan and Syndarin
elders.
