This is my take on the whole culture of big powerful pharmaceutical companies bribing doctors to help promote their drugs. Even as a medical student, we can't help but be sucked into this evil grand scheme, sometimes quite willingly. The draw of course are the free lunches, the free pens, notepads, etc etc. But is it really free? I guess we'll probably get brainwashed subconsciously by the recurrent exposure of their product brand name such that it will influence our choice in drugs prescription. But do I care? Not really. I just want the free food!!! Pity now that they have actually enforced certain restrictions in the amount of gifts the drug rep can give to doctors. I heard that they used to give computers and holiday packages! Boy how I wish I lived in those days...
