OCTOBER'S FESTIVITIES
Fall and Football

Every fall, I recall the days of football American style ... Momma's apple pies and the changing of the leaves in Upstate New York!  Seasons come and seasons go ... but we must remain constant ... and change, too!

CONTACT EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE FOR WORKSHOPS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

As I continue the distribution and sales of my second book, "Three Strikes, You'rrre Out!", I continue to look for ways to give back and spread a message that is deeply imbedded in the fabric of Educational Excellence - self education. However, before arriving at the juncture, one must complete the process of "knowing thyself"!  What makes you happy ... what makes you sad?  What makes you pensive or what makes you motivated?  I have prepared my second book and it is presently available.  In addition, I would like to increase your involvement in this spiritual entity.  Allow me to participate with your organization and its members.  Contact me at: (954) 678-8334 or send an e-mail to: johncook76_13@hotm

"Yea though I walk through the valley in the shadow of darkness, I shall fear no evil ... for thou art with me; thy rod, thy staff they comfort me ..."
- Psalm 23

Many challenges continue to find their way into the pathways of my life.  It is at this time that I must remember that I am not in charge.  I must take action and make decisions based on what I think is "right".  Yet, the outcomes are way beyond my control and predictions.  Faith is the ultimate answer for many of us, especially me, at this time.  These are very strange times when selfish people seem to dominate the reality on Earth.  Others reach out to assist those who have fallen through the cracks of our world wide existence.  Bombs continue to maim the innocent.  Bullets continue to claim lives on the streets in the cities of America - the home of the free ... the land of the brave.  Have we gone crazy?!  Or is it really the "last days in time"?
Prepare yourselves ... nothing on Earth is promised.  Enjoy each day
!

EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE

What is Educational Excellence?
Educational Excellence is an entity that is derived from the concept of self education.  Philosophers like Socrates often espoused, "Know thyself!"  The field of psychology itself was founded because people had a desire to find out what deep-seeded experiences caused their present behavior.  Meanwhile, some of the greatest writers of all time, both past and present, encourage us to take more time for ourselves and keep the "child" within us alive, well, and happy!  Needless to say, great people in history were often well self-educated individuals who overcame tremendous odds to contribute what they believed to be important ingredients to our ever changing world!  Others simply wanted to learn to tap into that ever flowing source of energy and self love that each of us possesses.  Mother Theresa, Princess Diana, Martin Luther King, Jr., even Michael Jordan all were people who "dreamed the impossible dream",  attaining and finally succeeding at those things they held dear in their hearts, whether it be the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize or becoming a back to back winner of the NBA Championship title.
Our lives are an accumulation of events, relevant people, and experiences both positive and negative.  Such is life.  Educational Excellence desires to plant the seeds of self education, focus on techniques and ways to overcome life's unfairness and unpredictability, as well as to identify ways to learn about our ever changing world, contributing what we hold dear in our own hearts.  Education is at the core of our success at living!  Knowledge is the key to such an education.  If excellence is your goal, at whatever you may do, Educational Excellence is an organization for you!

Founder's Biography: John Isaac Cook founded Educational Excellence in June 2001.  John was born and raised in White Plains, New York during the height of the Civil Rights Movement and the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1954.  He attended public school in White Plains until receiving a scholarship to attend a private Episcopalian boarding school in Concord, New Hampshire called St. Paul's School.  John graduated cum laude from SPS in 1972 and went on to Princeton University as the recipient of a scholarship for academic achievement from St. Paul's that was later converted into a work-study program and scholarship offered then by Princeton University.  He studied Sociology and Education at Princeton and graduated in 1976 with a Teacher's Certification from the State of New Jersey, a BA in Sociology, and an experience in broadcasting which led to his acquisition of the FCC's Third Class Broadcasting License.  In 1981, John earned a Master of Science Degree in Education, with a Specialization in American History from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York.  After teaching at White Plains High School for ten years, he then traveled to Cali, Colombia, South America to teach English to students whose native language was Spanish at two private bi-lingual high schools and several universities in Cali.  In 1995, John returned to the States and decided to live in South Florida where he now resides and had been continually involved in education on both the college level and at private language institutes where he worked in various ESOL/ESL programs. Though no longer involved in the schools, he still spends time writing and maintaining this website.  Today, John is a very spiritual person and believes in educational excellence, which is the name of his company.

                                       Each Day
The following is a poem excerpted from a small motivational pamphlet circulated by Salesian Missions in New Rochelle, NY.
Each day that we live is a blessing
                        Bestowed by our Father above;
                        A token of faithful endurance
As emblems of God's perfect love

Each day that we live is a challenge
                        To submit to the ways of the Lord;
To seek after the path of the righteous,
                        To redemption, our promised reward.

Each day that we live is a journey,
Each step, an impression in time
That leads us to heavenly glory
To the summit reached after the climb.

On that mountain, we'll look at the vista
                             Of eternity stretching away,
And we'll know that we followed the Savior
Through the trials we faced with each day.

                                 by Nancy Watson Dodrill

"It is you who have stood by Me
                                        in my trials."  Luke 22:28

Making the Proper Adjustments for Life
No matter what else we do, to thine own self ... be true!  This age old saying takes on new meaning each time I look at it ... and I reflect on the current changes in my life ... be it past due taxes to the IRS or my personal relationships with people in my life!
One thing I always try to do beyond acceptance of life's changes is staying focused and beginning and completing any tasks that I set before myself ... and those that the Universe gives me by the hand of my God, The Creator!  This journey is not complete yet, and, I suspect, there is another journey awaiting my spirit and soul ...
Each month, I change the dedication for this website.  It seems that I may have to use another site that I have set up for Educational Excellence, which is less illustrative than this one.  However it comes, please promise to stay with me ... and EE for as long as we are!  In everlasting peace ... amen!

Motivational Sessions involve lecture, discussion, as well as interactive activities where appropriate and requested.  Costs of sessions depend on services rendered and are established by written contract. John is available for special group talks and discussions, book-signing events, and interactive activities.  As a person who has experienced as he terms it, "the best of both worlds", John seeks to reach out to those people, especially youth and professional organizations, who desire to make a significant change in their own lives, their organization's purpose and vision, as well as those who desire to make the world "a better place"!

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: "What are you doing for others?"
                                               -
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Please read the above information and pass it on to your friends and associates.  Each month, I insert an anecdote, a meditation, some scripture or just a nice story or such to have you contemplate and share with others.  Pass it on ... you never know when it will come back to you!!!

                            Always yours,

                             John I. Cook
