Fears are RATIONAL.
They are natural and normal and usually to help us
sense Danger, whereas
Phobias are IRRATIONAL FEARS !
PHOBIAS are IR-rational because they are NOT REALISTIC
and cause worry and stress for no rational reason.
Being afraid to fall off of the edge of a very tall building is perfectly
natural and normal and is a built in instinct that allows us to
respect the potential dangers involved.
This is a healthy and respectful fear of potential danger.
Fear and those things that cause Fear are to be Respected and Handled Properly.
Whether it is an angry, Rabid Dog, a Charging Bull, or
out of control Car or Truck, or smaller creatures such as
Rodents or Spiders, Snakes or Insects, or even microscopic entities or
whatever else might bother a majority of average people.
These may frighten or annoy you because they have been known to
carry disease and can cause you sickness or harmful injury or
raise your insurance rates.
Even inanimate objects such as GUNS or KNIVES may cause
a twinge of fear at their potential use yet the real harm
comes from the INTENT to Do HARM.
The same holds true for AUTOMOBILES and other modes of TRANSPORTATION.
And STRESS is another major contributor to ACCIDENTS.
People are under stress and so they stay up later and later
to meet unrealistic deadlines at work. They get crankier and
more and more ill at ease.
They grow more easily irritated and over-react at the
slightest cause and the stress keeps building and they
keep exploding or holding it in until they finally explode outward
( Domestic Violence, etc. ) or have a STROKE ( explode inward )
Or perhaps they "try" so hard to CONTROL everything in their lives
that they even start to lose much control of their own bodies
( studies lead us to believe that many diseases, such as
PARKINSON’s may be at least partially caused or worsened by
excessive Stress and Unresolved issues such as anger,
bitterness, resentment, etc.)
FIRE, for example is something we use almost every day and
which can make our lives easier and more comfortable
WHEN USED PROPERLY and SAFELY.
Fire, in an of itself is really just NEUTRAL------it simply
IS.
It is what it does and how it is used or misused that can
cause it to be
good or bad, etc.
It can help cook your food and heat your Home or Apartment,
yet if it is
used with ILL INTENT or without proper safety measures
it can cause tremendous HARM to property or even living
things
like humans, animals, forests and vegetation.
To a Fire Fighter, FIRE is something to be RESPECTED,
understood
and fought in the most effective ways possible in order to
save lives and property.
To Cave Man Fire may have seemed like a gift from Gods to
help them
stay warm and ward off dangerous predators.
The same is true of Your MIND and Your
IMAGINATION------properly
used and understood and RESPECTED
it can help your life in so many endless ways...
Misunderstood,
feared and mistreated your Imagination and Mind

prisoner to these less than helpful habits.

( even as "icky" as it might have been )

remaining calm.
( or at least after having a "normal" shocked response )
Just as we may be cautious while looking out at the
beautiful view
offered to us by being up so high up on a rooftop
overlooking
our surroundings. Some people might enjoy this while others
will be
more cautious and feel some apprehension and look forward
to
being back safely on the ground.
Now the difference is
if you feel this overwhelming fear of falling off
of a tall building merely from imagining it, this fear has
become a Phobia.
Where even if you are safe and sound in your ground floor
apartment
and think of being on your roof top makes you cringe and
shiver in terror. Not just for a second yet for a long time
of panic.
Or if someone merely whispers spider or shows you a picture
in a book
or magazine or TV you feel as if your skin is crawling and
the boogie man is chasing you. Sure spiders may give you
the
creeps yet you can function normally after a brief moment
of discomfort.

a PHOBIA is IRRATIONAL because
