Organic Doodling is a process...and I want to emphasize "process". It is a way to EMPOWER ourselves. We do not focus on outcomes, we only focus on the next most important
thing to do...and we do it to the best of our ability. Whether it is
making the next mark on a drawing, or placing the next plant in a garden,
or placing the next board in a structure.....we just focus on that part
and do it well.

It really is amazing what can happen. This simple idea, coupled with the other rules of Organic Doodling, allows anyone to truly create beauty from within.
This all started one day for me when a student I was teaching and I decided to do some art work in a different way. We decide that the "drawings were in the pens" and that we would not try to draw anything, just marks on a 3x5 card. This student's drawing turned into an incredible collection of what I called "museum quality Indian symbols". She remarked that she had never drawn that way before. It was outstanding.
Imediately I did a doodle and it, too, was so beautiful...the most beautiful drawing I had ever created. Soon everyone in my class was doing them and when the entire rules were embraced, every single one of the doodles were magnificant...It was amazing to me...at times I had 12 to 15 students, 6 to 9 years of age, all working in complete quite for 30 to 45 minutes. ..and they were creating quiet beauty from within.
| One day a child had a pen make a "blop" of color on her doodle and she went to throw it away. We all stopped and concluded: Don't throw any card away, turn it in to something beautiful. What a challenge...but it worked. That card, and every other card that ever had a "blop" on it, turned out to be some of the most outstanding doodles ever created. Here is an example of one. |

The power of this thought also created another aspect of doodling: It became a philosophy of life, i.e. If something happens to you, just treat it like a Blop on your doodle and turn it into something beautiful. It is an incredible sense of energy transference.
To know and to trust that your inner spirit has the power to make everything come out right is not an easy task. This form of doodling is good practice to remind us of this truth.
