| Galapagos Islands The diving |

| Galapagos diving is often mentioned among the top dive sites of the world. That is why we booked our tour with the company Galasam and the boat Yolita, a boat with diving facilities. However, there was no diving whatsoever on the boat. No divemaster, no compressor, no diving equipment, no snorkling equipment. After constantly asking for diving four days without results, we went to the Captaine in in Puerto Ayora Harbour to complain. He took immediate actions and went out to Yolita to talk to the Crew. A manager from Gasam tours was also there and he started to blame almost all other people, including us ourselves. However, he should maybe read the pamphlets from his own company, see this extract from their own brochure here and information sent before the booking was made here. We were later informally told that the people at the harbour and the boat managers are all very good friends, they belong to the same elite of the islands who run the tourist business and the scene was mostly a fake to get rid of us. A compromise was reached, I was promised to dive with another boat managed by the same company, both the remaining days. At that time I was happy. Back at Yolita again, nothing more happend. The other boat I should dive with left for another route, the Captain at Yolita showed the same low interest in arranging anything with another boat as promised (he does not make any extra money on that). Galapagos islands is a place where you only go once in your life. Galasam knows that. They can easily promise "diving included" to attract more clients, without fulfilling it. Once on the islands, the fantastic wild life is so overwhelming that the good memories always predominate. Almost no tourists return anyway, so no clients are lost for Galasam. |
