One of the assignments starting from the beginning of the course was to collect postcards. "Go to the nearby coffeshop or record store and take postcards!" my professor would remind us weekly. Most of us had no idea for what so we procrastinated on the collecting. Finally during the last month of class we discovered the purpose of the postcard collecting: my professor wanted to make use of the free source of heavy weight paper available to us art students. What better way to make use of the postcards (which no one really sends out) but by making art on the other side?!!
These 3inch by 5 inch cards were done one by one very quickly because of the small area in which to cover.
Subject matter ranged from abstract compositions, memory, and from on campus. |
