| Holidays and Celebrations in 2003 |
| Dante Starts Kindergarten at Ko� |
| This last year has seen its share of holidays and celebrations, so let�s recap some of the highlights: In October Dante lost her first tooth. The Tooth Fairy even visited and left a little something under Dante�s pillow. Then there was the formal dinner to announce Bora and Erin�s engagement. Sean, Jodi and the girls were there to represent Erin�s family, and Sean made a toast to the new couple. Miss Dante Moran attended the gala event in full Minnie Mouse costume while Miss Alex Moran wore a lovely sage green frock, originally a gift from Grandma Vicki. The Misses Morans also celebrated birthdays late in 2002. Dante�s 5th birthday was held at the social center on campus and was quite the event. Children, toddlers and their parents all enjoyed the food and games and the Birthday Girl reveled in being the center of attention. Alex�s 2nd birthday was a far more modest affair. Held at the Moran home, the guest list was short and exclusive, allowing for Alex�s own diaper set to wish her a happy birthday in their own special way. And then there was Halloween. Being pregnant and having already used up the ever-popular �pregnant hippy� with the proverbial �Are you the father?� button on her belly, Jodi turned from pop culture to literature and dressed as Hester Prynne. Yep, all together now...yawn! Dante turned her eye towards Hollywood and chose to be Dorothy while the always-prudent Alex chose a more traditional ensemble and went as a bunny rabbit. Now, who does that leave? (Has this reporter shamelessly pimped the blonde thing enough in this issue?) Ok, the patriarch of the Moran Clan East chose as his festive personae none other than Brittany Spears. He even bleached his hair for the occasion because, as we all know, authenticity is everything. And it was truly surprising just how many people didn�t recognize him and really thought Ms. Spears had joined the party. |
| That�s right! After 3 long but glorious years in the nursery school (kres), Miss Dante has graduated to kindergarten. There, she studies the basics of science and math, but she also takes dance, art and chess classes. In a recent interview, the eldest of the Moran children had this to say about academia... �I have a boyfriend, Kerem and I have lots of great friends like �guz, Ahmet Can, Mehmet,�ara, Hakan�he�s really cute, Hakan� and Mert.� And when asked about her girlfriends, she was able to list off their names: �Miray, Esra, Su, Muge, Doga and Sanem.� Her full-time teacher is M�jgan �iralar and Stephanie McFee is her English teacher every afternoon. Though she�s moved on to the big school, Dante hasn�t forgotten her lojmon friends on campus like Nilsu, Annabelle, Harry, Bridget, Raechel, Lewis, Tutku and Zeynep. |
