Moran Clan Prepare for Final Year in Turkey
Finally, the end is near. June 2004 will be the end of Jodi and Seans contracts at Ko School. Where they will end up next is open to speculation. When they first accepted jobs with Ko, little did they imagine that theyd wind up staying for so long. Originally, the plan had been to stay for 2, maybe 3 years. But the high standard of living, the comfortable and family-friendly living arrangements and the light workload all combined to make our young family stay another year, then another, and finally another. What does all this mean? Well, every year around this time the international teaching community begins its annual run of job fairs. It was at one of these in Boston over the Valentines Day weekend in 99 that Jodi and Sean were interviewed by the headmaster of Ko School. Later this year the Morans will begin contacting friends and associates at schools around the world to see if there are any openings and, if something looks particularly promising, maybe even visit potential schools. Hopefully, theyll be able to avoid having to go to a job fair. Friends whove returned from this years job fairs will be heading to Beijing, Moscow , and Prague. It will be interesting to see what they think of the schools after one year. The one area our duo has their eyes on is the far east, namely China or Thailand. Watch this space for future updates!
Alpha Male Moran Moving on Masters
Yes, after 4 years of resting on his ever-widening laurels, Mr. Man of the Morans is actively pursuing his masters degree via Regis University in Colorado. The entire program is done online and runs year-round. 7 weeks are devoted to one class followed by a 1-week vacation, then a new class begins. Our favorite little blonde (see Halloween section of Holidays and Celebrations in 2002 in this issue) has had his nose to the grindstone since June and will finish in June of 2004. When hes done, our plucky little pupil will be the proud recipient of his masters in computer science with an emphasis on programming (aka a Get-a-Job-Anytime-Anyplace Degree).
