On a real lucky day, I could ride this hoss between TSN & Bien Hoa, owned and operated by Air America (note no markings save s/n), belonged to the "Comnpany" - here sitting on the helopad at Pentagon East, TSN - Huey driver did not like his photo being taken, not even a little bit.
Huey eye view, new Bien Hoa AB, Airman hoochs left, mach shop center right,  storage area is just back of MAC Pass Term., 'NAM ingress/exit. Freedom Bird operated from the terminal - photo 10-73, Americans here were DAO AOSAF (like me), assigined duty at VNAF 10th AD, Hq left center, USAF Gen Carnel, GS-16 Paul Tollestrup (PACAF Hickham AB) - a population of US Contr personnel and a hundred or so feathermerchants . Guarantee Charlie still had bulls-eye for B-105 and  B-122 whizz bangers!!
Huey eye view, Inds area , "New" Bien Hoa AB, 10-73.  Engine, Machine shop in front center, Consol Mess, Club, VNAF 10th AD Hq back & to left.  I had desk in quonset upper cen, rarely there tho, went to every VNAF AB in Nam   \I/  \I/  \I/
Michelin Rubber Plant., Bien Hoa/TSN fly corridor, always kept tight butt grip on Huey seat.  This last trip over Charlie "Garden", enroute TSN, had tik on Air VN, Hong Kong to  Tokyio/Honolulu/LA/Texas by  Gawd!!!!
Huey Eye view, C-130 Herk Revet. area, C141 Starlifter shown taxiing did not spend much time on TSN after 4-30-73
Rice paddies & fish farms, NE Saigon
Vo Tan pool & billet, Saigon where I spent last two nites in Nam. Slightly tipsy American came around pool, ask my autograph (I look alike  a HW actor - Wm Conrad, not really, he shorter, fatter, and now much deader  than me - although  we both Okie born - told him no, he wrong - he wanted to pull my mustasche, said I faking, in Nam to entertain troops - sez me, hell man, troops all left seven months ago and you better be doing same - he reached to pull my mustache - thats when I knocked his butt inna pool.
Interesting little place  NE of TSN, I never saw it until last flight from  BH/TSN. Apparently it was a No-no overfly place for VNAF, but "Co" Huey driver flew most direct route, BH/TSN. this trip.
Freedom bird - yea, Big butt Civilian looked for Freedom bird same as grunts, this one, Air Viet Nam, TSN/Hong Kong.  Interesting story, flight held up for late passeners,  they arrived carrying a freshly butchered pig, so fresh it was still dripping, and ten zillion flies - piggy  to Hong Kong market.
.(Roger Williams song "Yellow Bird" running thru my head whole trip). Sweated this sucker out too, night prior to departure, Charlie rockets hit Shell tank farm down river from Saigon, VNAF put hold on JP4 fuel, said Military needed it more than Air Viet Nam.
