I've got to be honest and say I've never been a huge fan of Asian songs remixed with occasional spurts of English raps/verses. Don't get me wrong I admit there's been some fantastic remixes in the past which have complemented the songs beautifully but they usually the ones that have been lyrically untouched and just enhanced by adding music. I'm just opposed to those that actually take something away from the original song by adding unnecessary scraps. Obviously I recognise that MC's in Garage tracks are far different from what I mentioned above but the argument essentially remains the same, lots of people still prefer uninterrupted good tunes. After waffling on, I'm now about to tell you that if there's one album that's going to turn you around (if you are from that minority) then it's this one. |

The Manchester Boys - METZ and TRIX |
12 uniquely brilliant tracks that each have something distinctive, MC Metz, Trix and Kasanova's debut album is a feast from start to finish. The album covers everything, including, garage, desi, hip-hop, jungle, and r'n'b. It's a rare occasion (in fact I don't think it's ever happened) when I don't have a favourite in an album, but I can't quite make my mind up here, it has to be between the sumptuous 'Sah Ruk Dha' and the seductive 'Neend'. Danger for me, epitomises what's fantastic about the UK Bhangra/Garage scene at the moment. With a debut album this good the Manchester lads will have a lot to live up to after this. |
