Meet my host father, Mr. Tsuzuki (Otoosan to me). He lived and worked in Shanghai, China
(many Japanese men have to do transfer time--some out of country, some in.
Since the kids in my host family were all grown, he decided to go by himself.)

Otoosan came back to visit three times. This first time
he agreed to pose with me--reluctantly. The hand pose? Unplanned.
Maybe Americans and Japanese are more similar than we think...

My host sister, Masako.

She was GREAT! When I first arrived,
her knowledge of English helped out enormously.
She also discovered she like brownies--yum, yum.
I made this brownie cake for her birthday.

My host mother's last meal for me. She was a fantastic cook and a fantastic person!
