| Ah yes, the first day back from Fall Break. The food in Thomson was like their normal weekend stuff, completely and utterly horrible. So I decided we should go to Olive Garden. Of course, Art and Manny had already eaten, so they ordered a Tiramisu each while I got a real dinner. First, the waitress offered us wine, without checking any of our IDs. Then Art and Manny thought it would be a good idea to tell her it was my birthday. Jared quickly went for the knife. Art made his loud comment about the 18% optional gratuity. It was all good. And I did homework instead of playing volleyball, an historic first. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| To put the great philosopher Ferris Bueller in the past tense: "It's not a questoin of what I did today, but what I DIDN'T do today." It all started with the beginning of the day, at midnight. I had just finished watching the last half hour of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and I was looking for another movie to watch. I decided upon Broken Arrow. Art dropped by a little later, and told me he had just finished practicing driving his car, which finally has licence plates. He said he needed to practice driving stick and he also owed me a trip to Dunkin Donuts. So, we left for Donuts around 12:40. I had flashbacks to the very brief period of time where I tried to drive stick; it was an adventure, the jerking was expected. When we got to Dunkin Donuts, the lobby was locked, and you can't go through the drive thru, it just isn't the same. So, I decide we should go to Waffle House, but I needed more money. We then drove to Dinkins so I could go to the Bank of America ATM. Except Myrtle Drive was closed, so we had to go around and cut through to get to it. After I get some green, we go down to Waffle House, of course, Art missed the turn and we had to pull a U-ey. Not that I've ever done such a thing in my driving career. Art played with fire sending his eggs back to be cooked more, but I think he's still alive. We got back to Richardson around 2 am. And no one knew how much havoc I could reck on Open House and for Chris just by sleeping in until noon, which I had to set my alarm on my watch to get up that early. Apparently there was a pretty bad accident at the Oakland and Eden Terrace light, and it occured right infront of a tour group. Of course, Chris and the 16 people he had on the elevator got stuck in there. Chris will probably not complain about our crazy antics anymore, as long as we're the only thing that goes wrong. At my noon breakfast, Art informed me that he was $12 short of buying new tires, so we went to the ATM again so I could lend him some money. At 3 pm, we started the longest game of Ultimate Frisbee yet played, a whopping hour and 45 minutes, one game to 15 points. It was insanely tiring. As I got back to Richardson, Jimmy, Pierre, Matt, Russell, and the twins were exiting the building and said "Jared, you know you want to play volleyball." I thought, "Hey, volleyball isn't very physically draining, I can do it." I got to chase a squirrel or two while they were pumping up the ball. And so we played some interesting volleyball games, rife with inner conflict amongst the teams. But once we split the problem people up on different teams, we had some competition. After an hour and a half of volleyball, we decided to play football. After an hour of football we stopped, and I really needed a shower. At 8 pm, we planned on going to The Pointe, but they were closed. After a half hour in the parking lot, they finally decided that my complaining about needing food was a good enough reason to go to Taco Bell. Of course, Art had a little trouble putting it in to gear to get there, but some people thought he was jerking the car on purpose. The eight of us caused on a slight ruckus while eating there. We then returned to the lobby of Richardson for some card games. While they were getting cards and things, Kat decided that she could fit in one of the cabinets in the lobby. Larry and I saw this as a great opportunity, and as soon as she put herself in the cabinet entirely, we shut the doors and held them closed. After a while, I just decided to sit in front of the doors, since it would be easier that way. When Art and them got back, I left my position, wondering how long it would take Kat to figure out she could escape, but Larry decided we should move a couch in front of the doors, so we did. Unfortunately, Art is diseased by this thing called a conscience, and he let her out. Anyways, we got to play 6 person Capitalism afterwards. I got to skip Larry repeatedly, and I was breaking up doubles and screwing myself over to do it sometimes too, but that didn't take away from the fun. After escorting Kat back to the Nance, and escorting Art back to Richardson, I went back to playing cards with David, Matt, and Larry. We played the screw Matt version of spades, and Larry and I crushed them, soundly. During the card game, we experienced 1 am twice. What a day. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Sunday night: The return of the pumpkins. Okay, so Jen and Mere were the only ones that actually worked on the pumpkin, that doesn't take away from the contributions of the rest of us... Monday night: Volleyball in the dark, the first time Kat, and Mere, and Jen had been out there in a while. It was the first time for my disciple, Jeremy Ponds, in about a month. It's so nice to see someone use run, jump, and dive around like that, it brings a tear to my eye. So, JR bought a spotlight so we could light up the court. It was definately a night where my evil, evil laughs got some attention. I like that, because it shows all that practice has been paying off. We only played until 1:30. Tuesday night: A complete inability for me to accomplish anything, especially writing my 205H paper. Meeler walked out of class, fed up with the fact we didn't read today, the extra time allowed me to do some of the readings. I finished off those readings at about 2 am in the Richardson lobby. Wednesday: I started a paper that was due at 5 pm at 8:30 am, went to class from 9-11, and finished the paper around 12:30. I have to study for a PLSC 321 test at 9:30 on Thursday, I should probably start. I go to the Patriot Act debate at 7, what a slaughter, then I play soccer, and then we practice volleyball in the dark until 11:30. Then I go to Denny's with Erica, Jeremy, JR, and Gio, but we amassed a total of 12 people by 12:30. We finally left around 1:15, I got back to Richardson at 1:30 and started studying. I went to bed at 2:30. Thursday: Took a test that I didn't really study for, did ok. Went to Kenneth's and Ricky's apartment to watch the Japanese version of The Ring, Ringu. It was suspenseful enough, especially with all the people in the crowd making comments and such. The best part was when Ethan came in the door, not knowing what we were watching, during the later stages of the movie. Most of the room jumped when that happened. We got back around 1:30, I got to sleep around 2, I did almost zero studying for my math exam at 10 tomorrow. |
