"Because to continue loving somebody...despite the circumstances…... even though there's no chance of that love ever thriving... THAT is romance."

Why I still love Dawson and Joey

I was sorting through some CD’s yesterday, and came across one labeled “D/J.” I put it on and within seconds of hearing Beth Neilson Chapman’s “Seven Shades of blue” (Also a fic title of an old fic by Courtney I loved) I was transported almost four years back, when the show was still fresh, the characters enlightened and entertained us, when Dawson and Joey’s story, Pacey’s story and Jen’s story kept millions captivated. I was lost in a world of fan fiction—reading others, writing, sharing ideas, theories, stories.

I was fourteen and completely seduced by this fictional story and life. The music became a part of my life, the show a central talking point of my little teenage life! And my stories—I wrote and wrote and wrote (especially in season 3.) D/J fans were all shaken up a little after the season 3 finale, but we never strayed—we stayed, some of us leaving, growing older, growing bored. I grew bored—but not with my friends or fan fiction, where I’m allowed to use these wonderful characters in ways (and kinky ways, sometimes, lol) that I always thought they should have been portrayed.

Now I’m nineteen, and I haven’t watched an episode for years! But I still write, I still listen to the music and now and then I remember the fun we had (the fans at Fan Forum, mostly) for the short year DC reigned as important and refreshing viewing.
