MICHELLE WILLIAMS (aka Jen Lindley) APPRECIATION.
"Well, at the end of the show my feelings were a little hurt because they were killing me, and I thought that it meant they didn't like me. I did have some reservations about my character, sexually speaking... that she would have a baby and then die. I thought that it was kind of a bad message. She was a slut who had redeemed herself with this child, and then they just kill her!"
~~Michelle Williams, November, 2003. (The Daily Pennsylvanian)~~
R.I.P Jen Lindley, 1983-2008
Remember in 1999 when everyone hated Jen? She was the evil force keeping Dawson and Joey apart! (She and Jack, grrr.)There was even a popular website--"I hate Jen," which has since closed down.
And then season three came around, and Jack and Jen became best friends folklore, and fans preferred their storyline to the other weaker ones. Jen failed to get a strong storyline in seasons four, five and six but gained respect as the only character we never minded. (Along with Jack) Her hair also gained respect until she chopped it off mid-season 6.
Anyway, Jen was sassy, bright, smart, Dawson's 'first' lover (woo-hoo) and everyone's supporting shoulder. So when Kevin Williamson decided to kill her off, maybe it was a blessing in disguise...no one realized what a great character she was until she died, and now everyone knows that Michelle Williams is by far the most moving actress on the show who only gets half the recognition (wait, make that a quarter) that typical-girl-next-door Katie Holmes get. Michelle has something different and original to offer, she's an entity, a shining force and a strong talent. See her now in "The Station Agent" a touching film about a dwarf. (It's better then it sounds.)
We love you Jen, and more importantly, we love you, Michelle Williams.
