James Vander Beek was born on March 8, 1977 in Cheshire, Connecticut and began acting at age thirteen after a football concussion sidelined him for a full year. After starring in a number of off-Broadway productions, Van der Beek got his movie debut as the villain in Angus. From there James's acting career slowed down, and he took an academic scholarship to Drew University before winning a once-in-a-lifetime audition for the lead in Dawson's Creek...

A manager encouraged her to visit LA for an audition and she won a role in the film Ice Storm. A tape was sent to Dawson's Creek and she was cast as Joey Potter. However when she was asked to audition, she had to turn ti down because she was in a school music��Damn Yankees� the producers of DC rescheduled and she won the part. 2001, 'The Gift' was a shocking, thrilling movie which had Katie playing a promiscuious bitch Jessica, who sleeps with the three lead men of the movie before disappearing.(And coming up later looking like someting out of the Exorcist)She again had phenomonal co-stars--Cate Blanchett, Hillary Swank, Greg Kinnear, and Keannu Reeves. Lucky Girl.

2001, 'Abandon', which wasn't much of a success but did prove Katie to be a an actress to 'carry' a movie.

2002, "Phone Booth" where she plays the girlfriend of Colin Farrel in a tiny role
