News from WTOV: November 11, 2003: News about Martina Bills from Heidi York: She did walk out from 9, and has joined the West Virginia Media Team. It looks as if she'll anchor for the upcoming newscast on WVNS (formerly WVSX, Bluefield WV.) I've heard that Nicole Leasure, ousted about the same time as Bills walked out, is at WJET in Erie. Also, 9 has updated it's look almost completely, though it's not much of a departure from their "old" look. They're now even more like WPXI-TV. A bit onf Anchor news: Danielle Frizzi was dropped at 5 and 6 in order to make way for longtime Niner Shelby Zarotney. Shelley Bortz now joins Jeff and Dino for Sunrise. While on the subject of News9 Sunrise, it now starts an hour earler at 5AM. Perhaps 7 is finally a competitor? September 8, 2003: WTOV individuals on the Post-Gazette BBS are reporting that WTOV has let go reporter Nicole Leasure, presumably over performance on air. WTOV had no comment on this. Also being reported is that Martina Bills walked out Friday; and has already lined up a position with "the competition." When brought to the attention of my Ohio Valley sources, a source close to WTOV and WTRF; he was unaware of her being hired at 7. August 18, 2003: Who knows what's up with WToV. They can't seem to keep anyone in the same spot too long. I don't like Shelly Bortz, and I don't like the girl they have on the weekend newscast now. Yuck! I'll stick to Pittsburgh TV. April, 2003: WTOV's main anchor, Karin Jeniszewski, has left the station. I was told by one source that, early in April, she had collapsed on the set and had been very ill. Upon contacting the station, the same source reaffirmed that Tim McCoy, general manager at WTOV-TV, released info stating that Karin has officially left in order to spend time with her family. She is married to AM Anchor Dave Blomquist from WTRF-TV in the same market. January, 2003: From my Ohio Valley Source: WTOV weekend anchor and general reporter Mark Zinni has left WTOV for WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island. Mark will be missed by his (former) fellow Ohio Valley residents.
