NEWS from WPXI: Nov. 26, 2003: Happy Thanksgiving to all my faithful fans! It was official- this evening, at 11:34PM, Gina Redmond signed off for WPXI for the last time. Both Redmond and WPXI claim that she's leaving to "spend more time with (her) family," not regarding last year's producer slap. Gina's hideously bright red lips will not immediately be replaced; however, as no permanant replacement currently slated. We'll keep you posted. November 1, 2003: Watch 11 To Win 2000! The biggest game in town is back again... Watch 11 and you can win... By jove, you've got it! Sweeps is back and so are the tawdry contests! 4 and 11 both use contests in hopes of boosting sweeps ratings. KDKA denounces them, and a Viacom bigwig calls them "Sensationalized." I used to choose KDKA for their seemingly fresh approach-- they even used to announce the "winning numbers" for the other stations. But recently, their JOURNALISM has become sensational. That is to say, it's on the level on the National Enquirer. Or, one might say, WPXI. Enjoy. New note: New theme has the "Total Coverage" signature, likely an update. May, 2003: Sometime this or last month, WPXI updated it's website, and soon after, it's music. It's still a 615 Music theme, however the new theme is a stock production and promo theme. It's hard, driving, and boring. There's only 1 cut. Total Coverge is still used for weather and some enterprise opens. Nov. 04 2002: Gina Redmond has rebutted her plea of No Contest. She is accused of slapping her camera woman while on assignment, and claims she didn't know what "No Contest" meant. More proof that anchors "just read the news." Nov. 01 2002: WPXI still needs to improve on it's lower thirds. The black and white, the "Times" font, the image doens't scream hard news, it screams "HEY! it's 1989 and we just got some actual chyrons!" :-P Oct. 10 2002 In the local case of Cox standardization... We get both WTOV and WPXI, so WHY MAKE THEM IDENTICAL???
