NEWS from WNPA: March, 2004: WPGH and WNPA are in a heated battle for the 10:00 timeslot, and it's hot. PCNC, however, isn't even a player. WPGH and WNPA both launched promos attacking each other at the beginning of sweeps. WNPA is concerned with keeping us all from being outFOXed, touting KDKA's large, local, experienced newsteam. The newest promo, "Stay up-to-date, not up too late!" also stresses that fact; and of course only <b>The KDKA 10:00 News on UPN Pittsburgh</b> has Pittsburgh's only all-local, all-live ten PM news. (Forget PCNC, the first to bring us the news at ten in the 'Burgh.) Now WPGH claims that no one cares about who has what capabilities and however many local reporters and anchors, we want the news with less spin and sensationalim. Who will win? Not PCNC. But as NewsCentral is revealed little by little for what it is, their viewership drops. And WNPA just might catch up. November 11, 2003: It just occured to me: I haven't even looked at this page since 2002. So- here goes! In October, WNPA changed from UPN-19 to UPN Pittsburgh. Someone representing himself as WNPA VJ Shane Tallant claims the change was due to the fact that all the cable systems across the region carries WNPA-TV on a different channel. (So, could that mean KDKA might soon be CBS Pittsburgh?) WNPA's new look represents the new UPN network colors, and the 10:00 PM broadcast is renamed "The KDKA Ten O'Clock News on UPN Pittsburgh!" Oy! What a mouthful! In anchor news, because Jennifer Antkowiak is hosting the Morning Show, she's no longer going to be doing the 10:00 newscast, or live reports for the 11PM broadcast. She will continue to be primary fill-ins in those time slots. Nov. 01 2002: Jennifer's still off, having had another child, and Susan Barnett is still filling in. (Dumb Blonde...) :-p August, 2002: In August, WNPA finally updated it's graphics package with the new UPN logo. It's a shame, though- the Ten O Clock News really isn't even a year old yet. And I can vouch for the fact that a lot of money was spent in it's launch. It seems a shame that WNPA has to re-do everything so soon. It's a good thing they got a UPN Rebrand Special from CineMagic. So, UPN19 now has updated graphics, updated music, updated IDs. Sounds like they're on top, right? Nope. Thee set consists of a blue wall reading "The KDKA Broadcast Center" and "THE Ten O Clock News on (UPN LOGO) 19" Oops!
