it's been a while... more good things...

movie.

I liked "frida." I liked how people turned into paintings and stuff. It was just cool. Probably cooler than that, is Dipson Theatres. I saw Frida at the one on Hertle. Dipson just has this sort of cool aura about it, and they have the absolutely best popcorn around. To quote Tim, "It's like crack!" Recently, I've seen Igby Goes Down, Bowling for Columbine, and Frida at various Dipson Theatres. A while ago, Tim and I saw Tadpole, which we thought was really good. The first time I went to a Dipson, I saw Memento, which was an awesome movie, although I haven't seen it going the right way on the DVD yet, because I think that would just ruin it. Anyway, sometimes you just need an independent movie fix when we are bombarded daily with crap movies that are "the event of a lifetime." Like, 8 Mile was so hyped up, when I saw it, it was a HUGE let down. HUGE let down. The best thing I read so far about it was in People Magazine. It said something like "Watching a subdued Eminem is less fun than it would have been to see a revved up Moby." I agree. Anyway, Frida was a pretty cool movie about an artist. So, if you're into going somewhere other then the Regal (and paying less to do so) check it out or another movie at Dipson. You might like it, you might not, but at least you'll be talking about it after. And it won't just be about how the commercials really lied.

listen.

I got the Coldplay, A Rush of Blood to the Head cd a long time ago, like a couple weeks after it came out. I had a burned copy of their last CD, but since someone else was buying this time, I supported the artist (riiiiight) and got a real one. Since then, this CD has only spent one day out of my car (and then was quickly returned.) I don't know what to say other than it is phenomenal. I have listened to it over and over and haven't gotten sick of it yet. On every listen, it seems like I find a new favorite song. First it was #4, Amazon says that one is called the scientist, (I never have the case with me to look at song names)... lately I've been leaning towards #8, warning signs. I think I've annoyed everyone by playing this CD constantly, but it's pretty much all I can stand to listen to most of the time (other than Superman on The Eminem Show, for laughs only.) What can I say? The radio sucks... and Coldplay doesn't.

eat.

Um, yeah, so like, um, they give you free popcorn on the tables. Free! hehe... they aren't priced too bad, but it's crowded a lot...and they did charge me for my birthday desert which I was under the impression was free... but all can be forgiven because there is FREE popcorn on the tables. I love the nacho pizza. Eating out is bad for you though. So be careful! Sometimes it can't be avoided based on the age of the crowd you're with (if there's nothing for under 21's to do)... so what if some of my friends are young? Whatever. Anyway, Tully's is cool.

go.

Lasertron is fun times for all. It is pricey... Good thing I have my pledge to be a nonsmoker card which gives a discount. It's the kind of thing you only do once in a while, but still, it's something to do, and in our area there really isn't that much. Lasertron really needs to get it's act together though (look at the picture I found online above...can you say 5 feet rule violation??) While we were there last night, a fire alarm went off and havoc ensued. At least our ref wasn't a complete jerk, like some I've encountered. Always beware of Lasertron Nazis - frequent obsessed players or workers dressed in street clothes - who do their best to make the experience as unpleasant and militaristic as possible. If you go with a big group, it can be a lot of fun. If you think it's lame, whatever.

watch.

I'd been waiting to see this movie for what felt like about 3 years. I saw the preview on Apple Quicktime Trailers a while ago, and really wanted to see the movie. When I finally rented it from Blockbuster last week, I loved it. Not for those who are ultra - politically correct. :)

OK, that's it for now. Maybe I'll do another one of these in a few months. cya.
