stuff i liked... so you should too...

movie.

So, the summer movie selection kinda sucks. I coulda recommended Road to Perdition, but that movie has gotten enough accolades to last it 'til 2004 and I didn't think it was really all that. Maybe it's more of a guy thing. Anyway, I say, go see Stuart Little 2. I saw this movie with my cousin who's not really related to me, Joe. It's a kid's movie, but who cares. I still liked it. More believable than that crap, Reign of Fire, a movie that never should have been made (my yahoo review.) Anyway, I think Stuart is a cutie, his new bird friend is a cutie, and the cats... guess what... CUTIES. Anyway, if you need a time out from the real world and some time in for cuteness, go see Stuart Little. If you want to see a predictable, slow movie featuring Tom Hanks (otherwise known as one of the best actors ever) go see Road to Perdition. Personally though, I gotta say Minority Report beats Road.

book.

Since I haven't really read any heart stopping good books lately, I decided to just pick two of my favorite books I read this year. Harry Potter 3, which I feel brought the series to an entirely new level and Jemima J, a chick book with an ending so funny, I thought I was going to die laughing. I was so anti - Harry Potter before I read any of the books. I thought, "How good could they be? They're for kids and only about a billion people think they are great, so they obviously suck." Then my mom brought home the first one from her school and I picked it up and started reading it. That was a mistake, because I ignored everything else going on in the world 'til I hit the back cover of the 4th book. I ignored my classes, my friends, my job, my life. All that mattered to me was Harry Potter. Now, the movie may have been good, but I just thought it can't be compared to the books. It's just not the same Quidditch field. I refuse to give anything away, but the 3rd book was greatness. Regardless, read them all.

Jemima J was one of those chick books that Amazon recommended to me after I read Bridget Jones. Isn't Amazon scary? It like, KNOWS what you like. I feel so violated! Anyway, Jemima J had lots of good messages and was hilarious. Some people gave me funny looks while I was reading it because of the cover...

actual conversation
S: "Jess, what are you reading?" *translation: looks like porn to me*
J: "Oh, it's this really funny book."
S: "Oh, uhhuh, how nice." *translation: uhhuh, really funny porn.*
J: "It's not porn."

So, anyway, Jemima J is about this English chick who feels less than stellar, and doesn't think she'll ever get with her hottie friend at work. So she decides to make all these changes to herself, pick up this guy on the internet and travel to the USA to try out her new self with him. Craziness ensues. If you're a girl, it might be worth reading. :)

t.v.

OK, so it's summer... there really isn't that much on TV. I hardly even ever watch TV. Every since we got digital cable and it's only on the TV downstairs, watching TV in my room just feels like I'm getting the shaft. So, I'm just repeating here, watch Sex & the City. I'm a little upset, because at the end of Season 4, they shipped Big off to some vineyard, but I know he'll be back. My favorite episodes are always the ones that he is on. The first new episode of this season kinda had me disappointed. I don't know exactly why, it just seemed a little lacking. But, it's still good stuff. And maybe Big will be back soon. That's why I used the pic above, I'm trying to will him back.

Reasons you should buy Busted Stuff, the newest CD by Dave Matthews band:

go.

I recently went away to DisneyWorld. On the way I stopped in Atlanta, an awesome city. DisneyWorld has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, the whole gang. However, they don't hold a candle to NYC. There's just something about NY. I haven't been there since summer 2001 and I miss it. I think it's time to go back. There's just so much to do. There's the Rent tickets for 20 bucks (don't even get me started about Joey Fatone as Mark - he just better not suck). There are parks, stores, restaurants people. NYC is amazing and I hope I get to walk that sidewalk soon. I also hope nothing like September 11 ever happens again....
