September 25, 2002 - This is the hardest day I could ever imagine. Today would have been the due date of our precious angel. I didn't realize just how much I missed her/him until today. But it helped knowing that we have a heavenly angel who takes care of us!!
September 26, 2002 - Kyle allowed me to order a home doppler that would allow me to listen to the baby's heartbeat whenever I wanted. (See HearTones.com for a great deal on renting a doppler.) Hopefully this would reduce the stress and anxiety I feel before each and every doctor's appt!! Well, it arrived today in the mail but I'm just too chicken to use it!! What if I can't hear it or find it??? I know I'll be panicing even more. So it sits beside my bed as I work up the courage to try it!!
September 27, 2002 - After a very restless night of sleep, Kyle had to get up very early in the morning to go to work. I lay in bed for a few moments after he left, still thinking about that doppler laying next to the bed. I pulled out the directions and reread them for the millionth time!! Finally, I took a deep breath, picked up and thought, "What the heck, I'll give it a shot!!" Of course my heart is racing, I thought it just might leap out of my chest and run away from fright!! I turned the machine on and started searching. A few seconds later, the room was filled with this wonderfully fast heartbeat, even faster than mine!! I was so excited!! It's for real!! There is a baby growing inside me!!
October 7, 2002 - Well you can call me chicken!! My next appt was supposed to be tomorrow but since Kyle had to work, I cancelled and rescheduled for next week, Oct 15. I'm still terrified of bad news so I can't bring myself to go alone. Thankfully Kyle has been a rock for me to lean on!! I love him so much.
October 10, 2002 - 14 weeks today!!! I'm officially in my 2nd trimester!! I can't believe I've made it this far. Looks like Kyle and I will be welcoming a new baby into our family next year. I can't wait!! 6 months to go!!
October 15, 2002 - Had another OB check-up today. Dr just listened for the heartbeat. He actually had a little trouble because "LilReyn" refused to stay still. Dr seemed a little frustrated but I thought it was funny. Since the baby refused to stay still, the Dr couldn't get an exact count of the heartbeat but he said it was in the 150s. I have an appt on Nov 4th with radiology for a routine ultrasound. We are hoping that the baby will cooperate that day and maybe find out if "LilReyn" is a boy or girl (I say given Kyle's family history, includng his brother and sister, there are 7 girls and only 3 boys, we are having a girl. Kyle is holding on to hope of a boy.) As long as the baby is happy and healthy, we'll be happy!!! I also have another OB check-up on Nov 8th.
October 17, 2002 - I can't believe it!! 15 weeks today!! I think I'm still in shock!!
October 21, 2002 - Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary. We spent the whole morning just lounging! It was great.
October 27, 2002 - Woke up to find out that our local neighborhood volcano, Mt. Etna has roared to life. She began with plumes of smoke and ash and then began spewing lava. Thankfully no towns are threatened and Kyle and I live far enough away that we are in no danger but still close enough to see the light show!! See pics of Mt. Etna!
October 31, 2002 - Happy Halloween!! Kyle got to dress up as Winnie the Pooh and I was Tigger!! We had a blast handing out candies. See Halloween pics!
November 3, 2002 - Happy Birthday Kyle!! He turned 28 today!! He's my old man, literally!! LOL!! I love teasing him about his age!!
November 4, 2002 - I had my ultrasound with radiology. I was nervous wreck. I thought for sure that I would throw up the 2 liters of water I had to drink. It didn't help that the hospital was freezing cold and I had to pee like a race horse. My heart was beating a mile a minute!! The ultrasound tech was an absolute angel. She pointed out to me everything she was looking at. Baby's heart beat was 158. She said the baby weighs about 8 ounces right now. And as usual, the baby gave the tech a run for her money. The baby refused to stay still, constantly kicking, stretching or rolling over!! The tech said I'm measuring 2 days ahead so she changed my EDD to April 8, 2003. The sooner the better.
