Chapter 9

Tony and I went without any trouble from Nannette for two whole weeks. In that time, Tony helped me get my computer set up. Even though he wasn’t very knowledgeable with computers, he sweetly offered to help. I’m surprised that I didn’t do this earlier because before Tony, I would be on the computer for hours. But now I’ve been too much into Tony that I haven’t been keeping in touch with my fellow Slatterettes. The last time I talked to them was when I told them I was going to Dundee. One day I finally got everything set up and I went to Tony’s message board. There were all sorts of posts about me and Tony! They were all wondering what happened to me, if anybody’s heard from me, and if I had met Tony yet. So I posted a message about what had happened and in a few hours, I checked the board again and there were so many threads! Ah yes it felt like home! It looked like they were all taking it well. Of course there would be a bit of jealousy but they all wished me well and agreed it was a good thing that Tony would fall for one of their own. I’d do the same, of course.

Tony surprised me one day when he “kidnapped” me for the weekend. We spent two days together out in the country where hopefully nobody would find us. And this happened right when I was starting to get comfortable again with my computer.

Great! Now she’s posting at our board! To me it looked like she didn’t even bother reading any old posts, so maybe she hasn’t read anything I’ve written. She was the only situation that I didn’t tell the Slatterettes. I wanted to forget about her. The other Slatterettes welcomed her to the board and Nannette began posting about her “Tony Travels,” as she called them. She described how she would go by his office every day and try to follow him! She sounded very bonkers, as Tony would say. Even if I didn’t know her, I’d still think she was crazy.

Tony Rumors??—I don’t want to start anything serious, but I heard that Tony was going out with a very young woman! So one day while on my trip, I saw Tony with this girl, who looked around 17 or 18! They were really into each other, I might add. She looked really familiar, but I wasn’t sure. Doesn’t that just tick you lot off?

Guess what happened? I saw Tony and that girl together again the other day! This time they were at the movies together! I confronted this girl and she ends up calling me a bitch! All I did was ask her what she was doing with Tony and she blew up on me! I was trying to be friendly and that girl just—UGH. As I observed them, I saw that she was being very controlling over Tony. She wouldn’t let him do anything or go anywhere without her! I personally don’t think they’re right for each other.

Okay. Well hopefully they’ll take this one well. I went through all the threads and some were on her side, but others disagreed, calling her obsessed and that she should just leave the two alone. A certain post caught my attention:

She called you a bitch?! Why would she do that? And she’s keeping our Tony on a LEASH?? She can’t do that! I’m sorry, but the way you’re describing this girl, he doesn’t deserve her. Maybe you could drop hints to him about letting her go, ya know? Who is she anyway? Sounds like a real bitch. We’re all wondering! RRRRAAAAA!!!!!

Shannon called me a bitch?! When I read her post my immediate thought was “Oh, fuck. She’s turned them against me! (Without them knowing it of course).” I couldn’t post any responses on the board just yet because Nannette didn’t know that I posted there regularly. So the only thing I came up with was to post anonymously:

“Why are you stalking him around anyways? Just leave the man alone! If he’s in a relationship, you should at least accept it, be happy for him, and get over it. To me it looks like you’re just trying to intrude on their relationship and break them up. That’s not a smart move, hon.”

“Well first of all, I don’t know why you would post anonymously. Trying to hide aren’t you? Anyways…If you were obsessed as we are, and I’m sure you are, seeing as you found this board, you would do the exact same thing if you had the opportunity. I mean come on! I get to see Tony almost EVERY DAY! I could be your only connection to him!

I nearly ground my teeth to dust while I was reading that. If only she knew…The only solution I could think of that would end this mess was to email everybody on the board and tell them what’s going on, and so I did. I told them all the Nannette situation and how she’s been telling things the wrong way. They said they’d just laugh, act interested in her and play along. Oh, and Shannon apologized for calling me a real bitch.
