Chapter 3
It was around
6:30 and Theresa came over. We were sitting on my bed and eating ice cream fresh
from the cartons.
“Okay, so after he dragged you
into the library, what happened?” she asked as she took a scoop
of
chocolate ice cream into her mouth.
“Well, we went into the library,
found a quiet table in the corner and sat down. Then we just started
talking.”
“What did you talk
about?”
“We talked about ourselves, and
started to get to know each other. It was almost magical…” I
trailed off as I put the spoon of vanilla ice cream in my mouth. I stared up at
the ceiling and closed my eyes.
“You’ve REALLY got it bad.
I’ve never met anybody as obsessed as you!”
“Really? I thought there’d
be a lot of Tony fans around here.”
“Well I heard about this one girl
last year. She was so obsessed with him that her grades got really low and she
left.”
“She just left? Is she crazy or
something?”
“Well I think she either got over
him, or her family was concerned about her future. You better watch it or the
same thing will happen to you!”
“Nah. I know how to control my
obsessions. I can still keep my grades up. I’ve had a lot of experience in
the obsessions department.”
Theresa,
taking her box of ice cream, got up off the bed and sat on the couch.
“You know what I’m
wondering? Why would Tony pick YOU to drag around the school and hang out
with?”
“I dunno. I’ve been
wondering that too.”
“Okay, so what else happened? I
want details here!”
“Well, we sat across from each
other at the table and talked. We practically stared at each other the whole
time. But of course sometimes it was just too much to bear, just looking
straight into those eyes of his that I had to look away. But not for long. He
was really interested in what I was saying. And of course I really listened to
what he was saying. We chatted for about 30 minutes, but in all that time, I
knew he was a caring person, and he was just so…so…You know!
Perfect!”
“Yeah. Too bad he’s 40
years old. And you’re, what, 18?”
“Your point
being…”
“Oh come on now!
He’s—“
“Twenty two years older than me,
and old enough to be my dad. Yeah, I know. I’ve done all the calculations
already.”
“And you’re still gonna go
along with this?”
“Of course. Oh come on.
It’s just a harmless student/rector relationship.”
“Yeah, it happens every
day.”
I sighed and
lay down on the bed.
“It’s just so exciting for
me! I’ve never been this close to anyone of the opposite sex! And to have
Tony be the first, that makes it more special!”
Theresa stood
up and headed for the kitchen.
“I guess you have something
there. You’re becoming a woman, that’s all I can
say.”
“Thank you!”
She came back
in and picked up her coat from the bed.
“I’m gonna head back to my
place now. So I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yep. We’ll meet at the
water fountain again then. Bye!”
She opened the
door and said “Oh hi Tony!” I quickly sat up and looked at the door.
No sign of Tony. Theresa started laughing at me.
“Oh my God! You’re
crazy!” she said as she went out the door. I shook my head and lay back
down.
“Yeah well don’t be
surprised if you don’t find me at the fountain!”

The next
morning at around 10:30, I was sitting at the water fountain looking around the
courtyard. There were students all around but no sign of Tony. For some reason I
found myself comparing the guys at the school to Tony and none of them could
match up against him. Maybe I really am going crazy! I got bored sitting there
so I got up and was about to walk around when I saw Theresa heading towards me.
“Hey! Bored are ya?” she
asked, shielding her eyes from the sun. “Yeah, kinda.”
“Well I know something you might
wanna see. Come on.” She motioned for me to follow her and I did. We went
behind and around this one building and hid behind some bushes.
“What is it?” I whispered.
“Look into that window,” Theresa said and pointed up to the window
we were hiding under. I slowly rose up to see what it was and I noticed that I
was looking into an office. I looked around and saw Tony sitting at his desk! We
were hiding at the window of his office!
“Why did you bring me
here?”
“Duh! Just so you could drool
over him! And there’s this one thing you gotta see,” she said as she
crouched down beside me.
“There’s this rumor going
around that the President’s new secretary has a thing for Tony and
that she’s been trying to get close to him ever since she got her job
here!”
I started
laughing softly. I found that amusing!
“So is it like a daily routine
for her to visit his office or something?”
“Hmm, close. More like every
other day. But I think he’s starting to get annoyed and catching on to her
plan. Watch.”
She looked at
her watch and I saw that a woman had come in and stood at the
doorway.
“Hey! Is that
her?”
“Yeah. That’s her. Watch
how she tries to make it look casual. It ain’t workin’ luv,
that’s all I gotta say!”
The woman
stood at the doorway and talked to Tony as he was looking through some papers at
his desk. She slowly started walking into the office and I saw Tony quickly
glancing up at her and then going back to his paper work. She was about to close
the door behind her when Tony stood up and started saying something to her. I
read his lips and he said something like “That’ll be all. I’ll
be out there in a minute.” Then she left.
“Oh my gosh! He did look annoyed
with her! Have you been spying on him or something?”
“Not really. I’m really
into the gossip scene, so I had to go investigate it myself. Let’s get
outta here before we get caught.”
We both went
back out to the courtyard and sat at the water fountain. We sat there and talked
for about 20 minutes and Theresa introduced me to some sophomores that she knew.
The day felt like it
went by so fast and I didn’t have a Tony encounter all day. I was quite
surprised at that, but it was okay. I can’t be all over him now.
It’s now around 8 o’clock and I was actually almost ready to go to
bed so I had on flannel pajamas and watching some more WL episodes. There was a
knock upon my door and I got up to answer it. I wonder what Theresa wants from
me now! I looked through the peak hole before I opened the door. Can’t
always be sure what goes on around here at night! I looked through the hole and
saw that it was Tony! He came to visit me again! I took a deep breath and slowly
opened the door.
“Hi Tony!” I said with a
smile. “Hello! I just came to visit again. You don’t mind, do
you?” he said with that smile of his. Now how could I mind with a smile
like that?
“Oh, it’s okay! Come on
in!”
He walked in
and I closed and locked the door again. He was about to ask if he could sit on
the couch and I gave him permission before he said anything.
“So why did you come visit
me?” I said and sat down next to him.
“I realized that we didn’t
finish our conversation the other day and I haven’t seen you all day long.
So I thought I’d come by and we could finish it off.”
“Okay…”
So for a full
hour, we talked some more. By now it felt like we knew almost everything about
each other. I looked at the clock and realized that it was 9:15. Damn the time
went by really fast! I felt that we were really close now, so I just had to ask
that one burning question.
“Tony, can I ask you
something?”
“Sure. What’s on your
mind?”
“Well, we’ve been pretty
close the past few days. Ever since I moved here. And out of all the students in
the school, you seem to have this interest in me. Now I don’t know if
you’ve always done this with all your students already, but it just seems
unusual for me.”
“But I do have an interest in
you.”
“Yeah, but I mean, it’s
almost like you’re…like you’re…”
“Like I’m what,
luv?”
Ohh boy he did it again! He
called me luv!
“It’s like you’re
coming on to me. And I don’t really understand why. Well, never
mind.”
“Why? Because there’s just
something intriguing about you. When I first saw you, I had this feeling about
you. I felt that you were going to mean something to me and that we were going
to develop some sort of closeness, like we have now.”
Aww…I
don’t know what to think!
“And then after we talked some
more, I knew that you felt the same way,” he continued. “Now I know
that this might sound a little off, but I think that our relationship could work
out.”
“A relationship? You mean
like…boyfriend and girlfriend like relationship?”
“Yes, Jennifer. You and
me…together, as a couple.”
Was this man
serious? Oh wow this IS a dream come true! But since it is happening, there are
certain things to consider. Would we keep it a secret? And if we did, what if we
get caught? Would he lose his position as Rector?
“So? I hope I’m not scaring
you or anything. I mean, to tell you the truth, I’m not one of those child
molesters or anything like that and—“
“Oh no! I wasn’t thinking
like that! Really, I was thinking about us being a couple. In a way it sounds
like a good idea, but in another way it doesn’t.”
“You mean about how an 18 year
old is dating a man twice her age? And the fact that a school official is with a
student?”
“Yeah!
Exactly!”
“Well who cares about what other
people think! Besides, they don’t have to find out. We’ll keep it a
secret and nobody has to know.”
I sat there
and pondered the thought. Wait! What the hell am I thinking for? Come on!
I’ve been lusting over this man for months and here I am trying to reason
it all out!
“Okay. It’s our little
secret, Tony.”
He smiled and
pulled me towards him for a hug. He held me tightly in his arms for a while as I
smiled to myself. He then let me go slowly and looked down at me. He looked deep
into my eyes and I stared back up at him. He started to lean in closer and
closer to me and we both closed our eyes. Our lips touched. The temperature
rose. The kiss lasted about 5 seconds, but it was the best 5 seconds of my life!
He then smiled again and pulled me in for another hug. I couldn’t believe
it! We kissed! OMG!
Tony left soon
after, at around 9:30. I stood at the door and watched him walk down the lit
pathway back to the main campus building. He stopped to turn around and look at
me and smiled! Now was the time I experienced the real collywobbles!
