| In 1920, W.E.B. Dubois called for "a renaissance of American Negro literature...for the strange, heart-rending race tangle is rich beyond dream and only we can tell the tale and sing the song from the heart." By 1925, the Harlem Renaissance was well underway. It became known as an era of vigorous cultural growth that centered aroung a group of creative African-American writer, artists, musicians, entertainers and activitsts. This webquest will introduce you to the amazing individuals and ideas that shaped this time period. You will be a member of a four to five person team who will design a visual presentation and lecture on your assigned topic on the Harlem Renaissance. You will use a variety of print (primary and secondary expository texts) and non-print (CDs, videos, internet) materials to create your presentation. Through research and developing your presentation your group will become experts on your assigned topic. You will share your knowledge about your topic and how it fits into the Harlem Renaissance through a presentation to your classmates. Your presentation should provide your classmates with information that they can apply to the following essay prompt. |
