Chapter 3
Scott continued to stare at her, thinking his eyes were playing tricks on him. She didn't say a word, this was the moment she had been planning since the day she walked out. She stared right back at him, trying to figure out what he was thinking, she knew for sure he was shocked, but was he angry at her for leaving and never keeping in touch? Was he thinking she came back to be with him? She knew she shouldn't be thinking to highly, she did leave him. She figured he was thinking 'I've moved on, why are you here?'. A voice quickly broke her mind and eyes off of him. "Scott who is it?" she could here Abs scream. "Alea" Scott answered in an un-heard whisper, but Alea heard it more as 'Alea?', almost as if he was questioning his own eyes. "Scott who is it?" Abs asked again, this time his voice sounded as if it were getting closer. Alea stopped looking at Scott, although Scott didn't do the same to her. Alea saw behind Scott was Abs. He was just staring too. 'Oh my gosh, how long am I gonna have to stare, at this rate I won't get to say hello to them for another hour!' Alea thought to her self, smiling on the inside. She didn't know what was wrong with her, she was the type that would've said that outloud, but she just couldn't bring herself to do it, not to them, not after what happened. Finally Abs screamed with joy "Alea!" as he ran to hug her. Alea could barely breath in his tight grasp, but she really didn't care. Abs let her out of his grasp, but still held on as he led her to the living room. Alea was quickly bombarded by the other guys. While she was hugging the guys, Abs looked at her. She looked different. There was something about her, almost as if the wild and crazy Alea was calm and reformed. He tried to pass it as her just being nervous, but even then, this wasn't the same Alea he had known.
The guys all asked how she was doing, and she answered as best she could while she thought about Scott . Scott was sitting at the other end of the room, and had yet to say another word to her since the door. She couldn't really blame him, I mean she had left him, and stayed out of his life for three years. The other guys kept the questions simple, knowing she obviously had something else on her mind, and the fact that they couldn't ask her the question they all wanted to know. Why? Scott had never really told them anything except that she'd keep in touch, which never really happened. But they knew they couldn't blame her. How many people actually keep in touch with there ex's, never mind one overseas, who had changed there life in many ways, not all for the good.
After a little while of mindless chatter Rich asked a question that struck Alea hard. "So what brings you back to England?". This was the question Alea came here to answer, but always hoped they wouldn't ask. She didn't know why she felt this way, this was going to be the happiest moment in her entire life. She thought for a second, realizing she came here for a reason and she might as well get it over with. "Well actually" she began "there is a specific reason I'm here. Ummm.. I don't really know how to say this, I havn't really told many people yet." she smiled a very shy happy smile. "I'm engaged to be married" she finished, her whole face glowing. "Congratulations!!" They screamed, hugging her once again. They were all so happy, asking her questions about her husband to be that they didn't even hear the sound of Scott's heart breaking in two. |
