| Below are four new additions to the WE&H. Although not decorated for the WE&H, they are more custom decorated freight cars. Given that these decals came free in the March 2003 issue of Model Railroader, I figured I'd use them. The Turtle Creek Central is a freelanced railroad that MR is currently building. I made up the paint jobs myself. The back left car is an Athearn 40ft boxcar that I bought new for this project for $2. It is in a typical 1940-60 boxcar paint job. The back right car is an insulated boxcar with yellow sides and boxcar red ends and top. It has full color markings, more typical of the 1960's and 70's. The caboose is an old PRR caboose that I painted all yellow with a black top. It has the largest Turtle Creek Central logo since most people cue in on cabooses. The four bay hopper car is an Athearn model. It carries a tyipcal 1960's hopper paint job. The C&O decorated many hoppers like this for decades. I have also decided to add trackage rights on the WE&H for the TCC. This will allow me to use this caboose and possibly later a locomotive decorated for the TCC on the layout. |
