Crooked Tree

On the way from the airport to the lodge, Robert took us through a little backroad area where we spotted some Fork-tailed Flycatchers.

The next day, Robert took us on a boat tour of the Crooked Tree Lagoon.

Belted Kingfisher
The Crooked Tree of the Wildlife Sanctuary
A very common bird, the Jacana is a marsh bird that is light enough to walk on the lily pads.

Male (left) and Female (right) Snail Kites. The snails in the lagoon get quite large (we saw some that were about 4 inches across). These Kites have strong, hooked beaks to pry the snails out of their shells.
Green Heron
Yellow-crowned Night-heron (adult in upper right, juvenile in lower left)
Mystery Bird
Great Egret posing by the shore.
This Ringed Kingfisher and Olivaceous Cormorant were both perched on the same broken tree branch just so I could take their picture more easily.
The elusive Boat-billed Heron. This is a juvenile (the adults were all too well-hidden to photograph properly).
Squirrel Cuckoo
Dusky-capped Flycatcher
Cattle Egret
Great Blue Heron
American Coot making a getaway from the boat.
Black-collared Hawk
